Steelers promote Redman, release Eason

The fans have gotten their wish as running back Isaac Redman has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game against San Diego.

To make room for Redman on the roster, defensive end Nick Eason was released.

the move means that Willie Parker is out for Sunday's game, which isn't a huge surprise since he didn't practice all week.

How Redman will fit into the running back rotation remains to be seen. But he will likely get a chance in short-yardage.

Many fans have gotten their wish

Issac Redman is now on the 53 man roster

Hopefully, we will see him in short yardage situations

Willie Parker will sit out, inured

Mendenhall will get his opportunity against the Charges

Mewelde Moore ofcourse should see playing time.

Wow

Man i hope Redman can spark the short yardage game

It would cement his place on this team for a looooong time if he is called upon & delivers in situational football on Sunday.

I hope he does well

Tomlin must think he is ready. There are always backs you can pick up, Chris Henry was let go a few days ago by TN and I thought he was decent. What I am trying to say is there were other options out there so I don’t think this was a rush move. Tomlin must have confidence in him. This should be a interesting time for us as I think we are about to see the changing of the guard at RB. I don’t think FWP will be resigned and honestly despite different views from a lot of people, I think Mendy will do well once he gets in there. I have always felt Redman’s weak spot was his lack of speed but he may be the power back we have been needing, I hope so. I think our best chance tomorrow is controlling the clock, giving SD less than stellar D and a RB situation more suited to power than speed around the corner, we may be in for some old style smash mouth accompanied by a pretty potent passing game, sound like a bright future to me.

Great news!

But imagine how shocked the Redmaniacs will be when Parker comes back and Redman is released in favor of Sonny Harris!

i’ve been out of it so far this year. baseball season’s over so for now i only have one team to worry about, so i should be a little more up to date on things hopefully.

Roster

I still have to wonder why a guy like Eason was on the roster. Eason, Davis, Kirschke, etc. can all be cut and won’t get any work. When you need them, they’re available.

Why release Eason?

Aside from the fact he’s not over 30 (which has become a favored prerequisite for d-lineman in Pittsburgh), why cut Eason? If an end goes down, it’s all Kirschke or Hood (I can’t recall Hoke playing end). There’s almost no depth on a line full of old guys.

Sonny Harris turned down the Steelers and re-signed with Carolina’s practice squad. The d-line roster seems thin now with Eason gone, even though he hadn’t suited up lately.

Thank God!...

I must have missed the part of the game where he rushed for 300 yards. I did however catch a brief glimpse of him riding pine as the running back everyone had chalked up to a bust ran for 150+. I can’t believe it took the Steelers 3 whole games to make him active, what a bunch of oafs, fire everyone!

UPDATE - Steeleres reversed this move

The PG just reported that the Steelers released Redman and put Eason back on the active squad. Interestingly, it is not yet clear if the put Redman back on the PS.

Man, this fur coat is hot!
