Legursky @ Fullback?

Anyone else intrigued by this? It's sort of a twist on the OT as 3rd TE thing on the goalline. It worked exceptionally well punching Mendenhall into the endzone. I don't recall ever hearing about him playing FB in camp or practice. Is this something we're going to be seeing more of? That kind of position flexibility is a big Tomlin thing and it could free up a roster spot but I doubt he has much experience as a runner or receiver.

He looked good to me.

You sure Ike isn’t reacquainting himself with his fingers, he certainly doesn’t use them for catching. - Brian (DaBolts) on "Face Me Ike"

I Like it

but it’s kinda telegraphing that we’re running since he probably can’t catch

by Steel in FL on Oct 5, 2009 9:41 AM EDT reply actions

That's why its cool.

Tell ‘em we’re running and do it anyway. Doze it in.

I wasn’t pleased because we didn’t win - Mike Tomlin (after the 2009 week 2 loss to Chicago).

That was Awesome

That play reminded me of the 85 Bears when they had trouble on short yardage…they brought in the Fridge….problem solved.
Not many LB can take on a 300 lb OL with a head of steam.

Not the "Fridge" its THE BULLDOZER !!!!

I liked it also.. Nice to see a huge body leading our RB’s .. Reminded me of watching those Bears games and they would bring in William Perry “The Fridge”..

So what if you show your hand, IF THE D’ CANT STOP IT..

THE “BULLDOZER” cuz that’s what he did to the little bitty linebacker he ht..

Great minds think alike

I was just thinking of the nickname Bulldozer…

Its a situational thing

I dont see the big Legursky playing fullback for extensive series of time in the future.

That was awesome...

And worked well. Punch ‘em right in the mouth. I wouldn’t mind seeing that package on the goal line every week.

showing our hand

Big Ben shows his hand when we come out in the shotgun w/ 3 wides. He’s still completing over 70% of his passes.

Loved it - Smash Mouth Football

Whats the difference between Kreider who was a small guard and Legursky who is a big fullback. On goal to go at the 1 or 2, we should be able top run it. Spaeth can’t block worth #@##$% so we need a power fullback to create some push. Give him the ball once to keep the defense honest. On a pass play he can plug the middle and enabling Ben to have an extra second to pass.

Maybe Tomlin will realize that a big fullback has some value and that the Areans is not correct that we do not need a fullback.

As fullback, we have a choice of two nicknames for him....

1) Bronco Legursky
2) The Big Legursky

Considering the football pedigree of the first – referring to one of the first great superstars of the NFL – I prefer Bronco. It also has a great ring to it.

I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet beer.

LOL

Definitely the Big Legursky
The dude definitely abides in short yardage situation.

Legursky Nickname

I was as surprised as anyone to see Legursky in there as anyone. After seeing the results, I can say pleasantly surprised. I hope it continues to work out for him, especially against defenses that are tougher that the Chargers.

As for a nickname, I dig either Bulldozer or the Big Legursky. Bronco doesn’t work – it’s unfair to the original Bronco, as well as our guy. Each man should get their own identity.

Man, this fur coat is hot!

Really great to see the offense opening up!

The Legurskinator

He Legurskied anybody in his path which was pretty bad ass.

I was quite pleased to see us use a guy who looks like he knows what he’s doing at fullback.

what about passing downs?

It would be nice to have an extra lineman protecting Ben from the fullback spot, I always hear about Baltimore’s unbalanced line, well this might be a good variation of that mentality. Or split backs with Mendy and Legursky on either side and Wallace and Holmes burning CB’s.

it never got weird enough for me

Who knows maybe Legusky can catch

he could be our Jumbo Elliot

"Polamalu’s lineage can be traced through several roots. Chuck Norris mated with an Amazon Queen, and on the other side, Tony Hawk mated with Mother Nature.

The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."
