Great detail
Thanks Swiss, that is pretty in depth. Good to see Foster in the game, if only to show BA is being more creative.

Pie & Stats...
Vinnie’s Pie…just at Vinnie’s the night after the opener. Took my mother there for her 89th birthday. We’re classy like that. Sat in the bar…they’ve taken down the plastic grape decor….was awesome.
Stats….I glean the sets either from watching the game tape (what I did for the Chicago info, or looking at the “player participation” data on www.profootballfocus.com, then cross reference with the play by play (I use the espn site for that)

Always loved Sweaty Vincents! Usually do the one in Green Tree when in Pittsburgh…Right after a steak hoagie Aiello’s in Squirrel Hill.

foster
oh….and foster was in so much largely, though not entirely, due to the D.J. Johnson injury

Vincent's..
Sorry…this “reply” thing only works about half the time for me….
5020…
Vincent’s of Greentree is NOT the same Vincent’s. In fact, Vince sued this fraud a few years ago for co-opting his name. Problem was Vince hadn’t copyrighted it, or some such BS

With FB: 21 plays, 18 rushes, 41 yards (2.3ypc)
Without FB: 38 plays, 10 rushes, 60 yards (6.0ypc)
Apparently, when we line up with a fullback, the defense is stacking up against the run and stuffing it. According to this data, our most effective formation for both running and passing is 2TE/2WR. Thanks, Swiss! It would be nice to see summary totals from the first four games, when you have them. Then we can really see if this is a trend or a one-game thing.

interesting stat
but unless we know how many of the carries with fullback are in short yardage, (where 1-2 yards is a win on the play) it’s hard to say whether we’re really that much more effective without a FB. situational football…

Swiss
You are correct sir, the only true Vinnie’s is on Ardmore Blvd. I’d take one of his pizza’s over steak & lobster. Happy Birthday to your mom. I just wish they had decent pizza in California, but after Vincent’s, nothing else comes close. I should move back to the ‘Burgh just for the pie and Primanti’s.

Game 2
…thought this was posted here before. I have Game 1 somewhere, hopefully will have Game 4 and cumulative tomorrow. Right, acrollet….I’ve not analyzed that closely, but I think by no means is the fullback used only in short yardage, but perhaps moreso than the other sets.
