Redzone, the Channel....

Blitz mentioned that the Redzone Channel is sponsoring BTSC for the rest of the season. This past Sunday, with the Steelers on the night game, I had a chance to watch a free sample of Redzone.

Star-divide

I loved it.

They switch from game to game....when somebody is on a key drive or ready to score, you get to watch it live. And they show every touchdown from every game....or at least that's what they say they do. Not all of them live, of course.

Flippin' back and forth, with the attention span of a hummingbird. That's me.

I'm gonna jump for the fifty bucks it costs to buy it for the rest of the season, in part because the Steelers simply don't play that many one o'clock games. I can watch me my Redzone and still catch my Stillers live.

Not having to switch from channel to channel allows me to keep one hand on the Duff beer and the other on the nachos - or the Sprinklicious donuts.

Anyone else catch the Redzone Channel freebie this past weekend? Any thoughts?

Redzone channel is nice, but still no where near as nice as Direct-TV’s Sunday ticket package although it is much more reasonable even at 50 bucks for the season.

The High Definition Sunday Ticket package costs around $300 bucks for the season. (I spend at least that much in a season going to bars watching the game though).

Not only does the Sunday Ticket package have a Red-Zone Channel, but you can also watch all the games, and you can have a game-mix channel that shows 8 games at once on your tv.

God Bless NFL Package

I can’t tell you how horrid it was (mid to late 1980s) waking up at 6 AM and driving to Orange County (an hour away) on a Sunday morning so you could get a good seat at one of the few “Steelers” bars in the south land. On top of that you would spend $50 every Sunday on breakfast, lunch and drinks. Plus the Steelers sucked and would get hammered consistently.

NFL Package is the greatest $200 investment a displaced fan can make. I am at the gym early back in front of my HD by 930 AM to watch pregame and game. Every game is televised so I can follow the Ratbirds, Stains and Bungles as well as any other AFC competition or NFC fav’s. “Directv NFL package…where have you been all my life?”

milkshake

does your “regular” sunday ticket package from Direct Tv come with the RedZone channel, game mix, etc.?

all we get here in houston are the games themselves which doesn’t suck. it is a sweet thing living 1400 miles from the burgh and knowing we’ll always be able to see the black and gold.

me, my cousing and my brother in law all have it and we switch houses each week to watch the Stillers.

Hey Homer.....

Quote: “in part because the Steelers simply don’t play that many one o’clock games”

Ummmm….. Their last 4 o’clock game was against Cincinnati a few weeks ago. Of the last 12 games, 9 games are 1 o’clock starts (unless flexed), the other 3 are prime time games.

As for the Red Zone package, I love it! I do not have an attention span that lasts a great deal of time, so I actually just leave it on the Red Zone and watch that (unless the Steelers are on, obviously). Somehow I actually got the channel for free for 3 months. I switched from DirecTv to Dish (huge mistake) and got their gold package. When I called up about hockey games they said I could try another package that had the NHL network for 3 months for free, and it included the Red Zone.
