The BTSC Predict the Score Competition: Week 5 @ Detroit, plus Week 4 Results

The Steelers in Week 4 hosted the Chargers on Sunday Night Football, and for the most part did not disappoint. Despite another defensive lapse in the 4th quarter, this one was not really as close as the score suggested. A couple massive mistakes on Special Teams helped allow the Chargers to sneak closer, but when push came to shove, our Offense was just far too formiddable for the Chargers to handle.

Many BTSC'ers did not make their picks, which I blame on myself for not getting this done fast enough, so i have tried to be earlier this week. May incorporate a "Drop your worst score" at the conclusion, to make it fair, as the majority of predictors were way off this week.

Congrats to indianasteelers and DarinS for scoring the best result of the week with a mere 8 points!

Wooden Spoon Award for the week goes to Steel in FL who missed wide right with his defensive battle prediction of 17-10

Anyways, below is the weekly standings:

Haven't been able to find this the last couple of weeks

So, if I’ve missed too many weeks, just never mind this now. But, if I can still guess, I’ll say:

Steelers 35 Lions 6

No probs

Its working on average score per week at the moment with many coming and going.

Everyones pick, even if just for one weekend, is strongly welcomed. We also didnt do the Cinci game (my fault) so youve only missed one week, and youve been one of the better ones too I might add

I also was wondering what happened to this!!!!!!!

I was in 3rd or 4th place after week 2 and i thought you decided not to do this anymore. Weeks 1 and 2 you had the post by wednesday but weeks 3 and 4 i couldnt find anything. I don’t have the internet at home so if you did it after Friday then theres my problem, but anyway im gonna predict my score as well. Glad its back though, its been fun!!!

Alos note to those that Stafford is not a lock for the start on Sunday

By the way, you can change your pick as long as its before the kickoff

Conditional picks legal?

Like I can say if its raining its one score or no?

Or if the stadium is 50% or greater steelers fans its one score but if theres more lions fans its another?

Just bustin your balls tho.

It is supposed to rain in Detroit

Could have a significant impact on the game.

Wouldn't it be cool

If dome teams could create artificial weather!! I suppose that would defeat the purpose of a dome, but how sweet would it be if you could make it 24 degrees and snow like hell during a game. I say FUN!!

I know

In madden there was a cheat for that a long time ago. I loved it.

You should be able to have mini earth-quakes to sack a QB, hail-stones if needed, and possibly a lava flow near the endzone to help keep enemies out.

Steelers 24 Detroit 10

This is Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu getting knocked around by the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii yesterday...
Minutes later, Troy caught the ocean going over the middle and smacked it right in the mouth. The ocean fumbled, Troy recovered and ran it into the endzone. The ocean never messed with Troy again.

Lions are my first team, Steelers are my second

This is the only time I’ll ever root for the Steelers to lose. And no, I’m not a bandwagon guy. My gramps was a miner from your guys’ area (Meyersdale, I think I still have relatives there) and I inherited his love for the Steelers over 30 yrs ago. I just happen to love my hometown Lions a little bit more :-)

Nah hes right

I assumed everyone would pick the Steelers, but when a few picked both Chicago and San Diego ive since cut that idea of a penalty for picking the wrong team

This game is sort of working its way out as it goes lol :P

we are playing the "unknown" card

no one really knows what they are getting from the lions this year…we will surprise some teams. if the qb (whoever plays) can get the ball out, we have shown we can move the chains…and prime target will be the left side in the gaping hole left by troy.

"Polamalu’s lineage can be traced through several roots. Chuck Norris mated with an Amazon Queen, and on the other side, Tony Hawk mated with Mother Nature.

The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."

OldManSteeler, ominously died two days before Superbowl 123 where the Ravens are set to attempt their 7th superbowl win, facing the Detroit Lions on Sunday. He was 86. His last words are believed to be "MALOR CAN SUCK IT!!!". Like friends and family, we can only guess what this could mean.

What should be the minimum

Like obviously to take home the title and the wicked sweet set of bragging rights you probably should have a minimum number of games.

Or maybe for every game you miss you get the group average score for that week, as a way to keep you right in the middle of the pack. Not a punishment, just an equalizer.

by Mechem on Oct 10, 2009 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If anything, it should be something that doesn’t turn this into any more of a scoring nightmare.
