Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Tomlin just before halftime last night

Did anyone notice after the Steelers D held the Broncos with 40 something seconds left on the clock and the MNF crew is asking why the Steelers don't call timeout so they can get a shot at some points before the half. The camera panned over to the Steeler sideline on Mike Tomlin, I think someone was asking him why he wasn't taking the timeout and he held up his hand as if to say just relax. He must have had a wonderful halftime speech brewing in his head. That is the point I knew we were coming out flying in the second half...what a moment...anyone else felt that way, at that point?

Remember the moment

I instantly agreed with his decision. Denver had been moving the ball somewhat effectively, and had been particularly solid on third downs up until that point. Although I always have faith in our defense, it didn’t make sense to risk giving Denver more time while they were on the cusp of field goal territory (they also had a timeout). It’s better to rest, regroup, and come out swinging at start of the 2nd half.

Confidence is contagious....

Plus he knew the Steelers were going to get the ball at the start of the second half.

Didn’t see it but doesn’t surprise me at all. That is just who he and the Steelers are. As the probably now famous saying goes, we don’t blink. There are some games where you can’t really tell but in this game the Broncos were flat, out coached. It was kind of like an old Ali fight, that the best you got, what’s our name.

I could imagine

all the men gathered around. The room fell silent. In a very David Carusso fashion, Tomlin lowers his aviators and simply says “don’t blink.” Then the Who- Don’t get fooled again starts to play. Awesome.

Truth be known!

Bring a towel to the game. Black or gold or yellow. If you don't have one buy one, If you can't buy one, dye one!!!
