The BTSC Predict the Score Competition, Wk 11 @ KC Chiefs

Still in the process of calculating scores, bear with me

Steelers lost to the Cincinnatti Bengals for the second time this season, the last time this happened was 1998.

Yet I urge the masses of Steeler fans (real ones, not you fair weather fans, go support the Colts) to not panic. We still have a slate of winnable games coming up, first of which starts this week at Kansas City

Star-divide

Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium is an amazing sight, the sea of red, as well as being known as one of the loudest stadiums in the league

Make your picks below.

KC 23, Pitt 20 (OT)

The Bungles seem to have gotten into the Steelers heads, just as Brett Favre got into the Packers heads, and we have all seen those results. Without Polamolu, this Steelers team is not nearly as dominate. Dallas tried to give away a game to the Chiefs earlier this year in similar circumstances, this time there is no Miles Austin to save the day.

Give the kid a chance

he’s got a sick catch % and he seems to run good routes. He’s making Romo look good.

by Phantaskippy on Nov 18, 2009 11:38 AM EST up reply actions

Since his big game

250, 171, 61, 49, 20. It appears defenses are paying him a lot more attention and his production has dropped considerably. The guy has two big games against two terrible pass defenses (KC 24th and ATL 28th) and done not much since. I don’t buy it.

He’s not a number one receiver, but he can play the position. He’ll make it as a solid contributor, maybe even as a #2 receiver. He can’t take the top spot though.

by Phantaskippy on Nov 19, 2009 2:39 AM EST up reply actions

Exactly, and since Roy Williams does not play like a #1, he (Austin) is garnering #1 receiver respect. Unless they get a #1 he is not going to produce much. So I stand by that right now all of our receivers are better.

Into the Steelers heads??

Exactly how did you determine that? Have you been at practice this week? Did you talk to any of the players? They just played 3 days ago and their heads aren’t right? You gotta bring a little more to the table than that, my friend.

Also, The Steelers had Polamalu for 1 series, and held the Bengals to no offensive TD’s and 218 total yards. We certainly would rather have Troy in there, but showed we can compensate.

The Bengals are quite a surprise this year. We'll see how long it lasts.

97 may be a little bet of a stretch. We do still have Vrabel and Hali, and some decent corners. But you can make a very legitimate argument for 37, it pains me to say. You’ve got a great point about being ticked off, if the Steelers get an early lead, it could get ugly. The Chiefs tend to get pretty far behind against good teams, and then score a bunch in the 4th Quarter, but not quite enough to get it done.

Or sometimes it’s just ugly throughout, see San Diego a couple of weeks ago.

Picking off target numbers is a good strategy

Actually that strategy works great. While you may not hit it dead on, you are much more likely to be CLOSE.

And for the 11:5 prediction, cheifs go up 5-0, steelers get a td +2, then FG, and voila. Not too complicated.

This is Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu getting knocked around by the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii yesterday...
Minutes later, Troy caught the ocean going over the middle and smacked it right in the mouth. The ocean fumbled, Troy recovered and ran it into the endzone. The ocean never messed with Troy again.

and what Brodie did vs Baltimore has no bearing here.
Unless, Pitt hurts Cassel, and we have to turn the Dawgs loose.
Brodie will throw three 50 yard TD passes if you all let him in the game.
Good reason not to hurt Cassel IMO :)

Our O-Line is terrible and you seem to have a good defense, so I am willing to concede a safety.

Cassel has 5 passing TD’s
Jamaal Charles has 4 rushing TD’s
Chiefs have 2 return TD’s. Jeff Reed could tackle the returner both times but choses to fall over crying instead.
