Steelers vs. Cowboys

Question i have been asking myself for a while. why is that when you see steelers fans in stadium's around the league its cause the steeler faithful travel well. but when its the cowboys its cause there america's team. Me im from dallas die-hard steelers fan since 1992 thanks to Rod Woodson being my favorite player .I have never  been to pittsburgh the furthest north ive been is k.c. LOL.

Im am waitin for pitt to come here so i can go to that game. i know of many steeler fans here in dallas and a few from all-over. Last time i pitt came here was ben's rookie year and i remember John "Everything he Says is Gospel" Madden says there or just as many steelers fan's here in the stadium as there are dallas fans i see that everywhere else but didnt think i would see that here in dallas. then last year i was checking the stands to see if cowboy fans filled heinz field i couldnt tell but didnt look like it from t.v. Any insight on that please reply.  Also in staying Dallas im constantly fightin family and friends about who has more fans of course i hear the america's team thing alot but we have a Nation.

So when i hear this im like do annoucers think that the only steeler fans are from penn. and cowboy fans are all-over i bring up cowboys cause they are the only other team besides pitt you hear about having just as many fans in other teams stadium as that team does. Steelers and boys are always 1 and 2 in popularity. colts and pats fans that i know are  bandwagoners to me so they dont count in popularity thanks. Also here if the cowboys win a game not the superbowl or even a playoff game most fans not all feel like and act like they have won the superbowl. im like wow you beat k.c. in o.t. yall didnt win the superbowl. if they go off of that notion then the cowboys have like 30 lombardi's. wondering if it like that in pitt. love all other dallas teams but cowboys

Live in Dallas too and hate the Arlington Cowboys

It’s tough because all my friends are Cowboys fan and give me shit all the time about who really is America’s team. My comeback is always that the Cowboys haven’t won a playoff game in 13 years. They used to be America’s team but the Steelers are today’s America’s team. Was also at the Steelers Cowboys game three or four years ago. Steeler Nation was representing. Many Steelers bars here in Dallas such as Austin Ave.

America's Team

As a native Pittsburgher, I don’t want the Steelers to have the America’s Team label. It’s a birthrite and honor to be a Steelers fan and anyone who truly loves the Steelers no matter where they are from are welcome in the club. I will always equate the America’s Team with those squeaky clean Cowboy’s and that just sucks.

Good Point

Although I lived in PA, I was not near Pittsburgh. I have never seen a game at Heinz field. I’ve been in Wash DC area for over 20 years now. The only NFL game I’ve ever attended was at Redskins FedEx Field last year with my daughter and her BF. She has been a Steelers fan all her life and has never lived in PA. Polamalu is her favorite player in the NFL. There were tons of Steelers fans at that game, and once the Redskins were losing, many of their fans near us left. By the end, it was almost all black and gold in the stadium.

My daughter has harassed me for about 6 years because she wants to see a game at Heinz field. So her Christmas present this year is tickets to the Ravens game on the Sunday after Christmas. I am looking forward to it.

I don’t want to be America’s Team. I’d rather win games in the postseason and concentrate on winning our 7th superbowl, hopefully in the near future,

Thanks Sam

I only went to two Steeler games in my and that was in the early 80’s. We only in because my friend’s Dad had season tickets and he was an E/R doctor who never could use the tickets. I still remember them as if they were yesterday. America’s Team? Screw that, they’re Pittsburgh’s team.

We Steeler fans don't just travel well

We’re alredy there. NFL films presents did a thing on Steeler fans and how after the steel mills closed people had to leave for jobs, but still followed the steelers. We went to Disneys Halloween party dressed as Steelers fan. we had twenty football refrences. We aren’t America’s team. We’re the Worlds Team.

Correct

I have lived in Honolulu and the SF Bay area. There are a lot of displaced Pittsburghers (me included) that had to leave in the early 80’s when the mills closed. I work in freaking Oakland, Ca. currently and you see more Steelers gear than Raiders gear. Hawaii is also huge Steeler country, especially when Fuamata-Maafala was playing, but most fans date back to the 70’s era.

Something about Jerry Johnson

Just makes my skin crawl. He’s like Al Davis on steroids.

+1

I’m all for owners taking a good interest in how their team does/is doing, but he just seems like he’s down in the locker room with the team on game days. A little too involved/nosy/pushy…

I would actually say Jerry is Emperor Al-patine on mood elevators.

God I hate the friggin’ Cowboys….Grrrrrrr

Die Hard Steeler fan from Oklahoma(Go Pokes)

I feel you! Growing up EVERYBODY was a big Cowboys fan in Oklahoma and I couldn’t stand it. Rod Woodsen was my favorite player as well, so I rode with the Steelers since then! Steelers fa LIFE
