BTSC Steelers Daily Six Pack- Sorry It Really Hasn't Been "Daily" Latley Edition
IX-Another somewhat uneventful day of football this Sunday with the Steelers on a bye week many of the games turned out to be one-sided. Probably the most important game in Steeler nation was the match up of the Ravens and the previously undefeated Denver Broncos. Both teams struggled in the first half with the Ravens taking a 3-0 lead, but in the second half the Ravens and Joe Flacco were very impressive on offense and added a huge splash play on special teams and eventually ended up with a 30-7 home victory. It will be interesting to see how the Broncos recover after their first loss of the season when they play the Steelers next Monday night.
X-Trouble in Cleveland is abound. Reports from Profootballtalk.com are that G.M. George Kokinis who was handpicked by head coach Eric Mangini was escorted out of the building today. You almost have to feel bad for the woeful Brows who have struggled ever since they came back to the NFL in 1999. It would be hard to believe that owner Randy Lerner would fire Mangini after one season, but you also have to think that wholesale changes are necessary to get this once proud franchise back to their glory. If you read Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback Column he points out that the Browns are no better off than they were 10 years ago.
XIII-Defensive Coordinator Dick Lebeau is confident that the Steelers defense is on the right track although he definitely has concerns about the 2009 version of the Pittsburgh Steelers steel curtain defense. Lebeau thoughts on Ryan Clark are he should not play if there is any chance that he will put himself in any danger, and added that "he would never ask a player to do something he wouldn’t ask his son to do." Talk about creating a team that feels like a family! On another note I have watched Lebeau this season on the sideline I was wondering if I was the only one who thinks Lebeau looks like he aged 5 to 10 years between this season and last? It’s scary to think he won’t be wondering the sidelines at Heinz Field at some point.
XIV-Mike Tomlin addressed the media for the first time in a while today after practice. It sure has been a while since we have had much to contemplate in terms of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Classic Tomlin in terms of his thoughts on whether he could overrule the Ryan Clark if he decided he wanted to play: "That’s a possibility, sure." "I don’t have a problem breathing when I go to Denver."
XL-The standard of expectation does not change. That certainly seems to be true to the 2009 Steelers defense after they lost Aaron Smith for the remainder of the season a few weeks back. The position has been filled admirably by the committee of Ziggy Hood, Travis Kirsche, and Nick Eason who has went from being off the roster to possibly starting this season if Kirstche is unable to play this weekend like the Steelers are preparing for.
XLIII-DC Steeler Nation breaks down the entire AFC for your reading pleasure.

How does it make sense to fire the GM halfway through his first season? The lack of stability cant be helping the Stains…..

On Woodley’s touchdown, Mundy was playing the linebacker position in the dime defense normally occupied by Timmons, who was injured. But Fox was playing that position a series later, and what happened? He intercepted Brett Favre’s tipped pass and returned it 82 yards for a touchdown. “We got lucky there in rotation,” LeBeau said.

Can’t say I picked up on that, at all.

My so thinks that Mangini will be fired along with half the team, who will be replaced by hotshots like Goldie Hawn and Keanu Reeves.
My only response is that the Browns are already twice as bad as any movie team.

They should just drop their entire team and pick out the best players from the UFL.

Even if the images loaded properly and didn’t obscure words, I’d still hate it.
But I am adverse to change.

It’s weird. I’m not used to it and it’s throwing me off a bit. I guess I am not much for change, but I suppose I’ll get used to it.

The formatting also sucks. There are no longer spaces in between paragraphs.
This line should be two lines down, but it won’t be.

I noticed that. It’s screwing up the flow of paragraphs. I thought it was easier to read with the extra indents.
does break line work?

Yeah, it appears sloppy, like you have a harder time definition between different portions of the page.

Eh... It's okay...
I don’t see the reason for the upgrade (Comcast flexing the money muscle?), it will just take some time to get used to I guess.
I have noticed, if I preview my posts, and wait too long, it tells me it can’t be posted. At first, this morning I thought I got banned, and was pretty confused. But, like I said, just a matter of time and comfort.

Cleveland has made so many
mistakes – drafts, FO and personnel selection in general, personnel management (on and off the field), and game strategies. They have become losers, with nothing lovable about them. They are beginning to remind me of the Pirates.
What do the Brownies do? They have to build a quality FO first (with people who know something about personnel and business in the NFL), then hire a capable GM and a coach with some cachet. When your situation is as desperate as that of the Browns, those people do not come easily or cheaply. I feel sorry for their fans (There! I said it!) and would like to see a real rivalry restored.

Browns
Didn’t they clean house last offseason? How can you fire your GM after only half a season, when you brought him in to clean house? If you thought that the situation needed a fresh start, it was already so bad that you would expect the new FO to get a little time to make the necessary changes. This kind of knee jerk reaction is probably the primary reason so many teams in the NFL suck so bad this year.

This is a team desperate
for respectability. Their fans are furious with everyone in the organization; after 2007 they thought the ship had been righted. If things don’t get better quickly, they stand a chance of losing yet another “Browns” team, this time to bankruptcy or sale.
And yet, to make it work the Browns can’t do anything quickly. They have to bring in more new people, deconstruct the team and rebuild again, hoping they’ve learned something about personnel evaluation.

Understood
but usually when you completely clean house, you give the new guys at least two years, assuming that the last guys screwed it up so bad that it will take some time to fix it.
I don’t think the NFL will allow the Browns to leave Cleveland again. It may fold, though. I guess that’s possible.

Dick Lebeau
I also noticed he aged quite a bit. I think that happens often when you hit the 70 wall… Oh well, guess he’s not superman after all, now he just looks 10 years younger than his age!

Sunny Harris to make debut on Sunday and deals for next year
With Kirschke on the shelf, then Harris is due to get a hat this week. I think this kid is going to be a good player for this D for a lot of years. He looked more impressive in the preseason to me than Iggy did.
Just to start a little conversation here, with 9 draft picks next year for the Steelers (the team’s regular 7 plus 2 I think they’ll get in compensatory picks), if I’m the Steelers, I’m willing to trade a 2nd and a 5th rounder to the Rams next year for RB Stephen Jackson.
For the Ram’s rebuilding, I think the picks would mean more to the franchise than a back in his prime who wants out of a losing situation. For the Steelers, I think this would be a perfect addition to improve the running game and keep Mendenhall motivated.
If the Davis deal doesn’t work, then I’m seeing what Cleveland would want for Joshua Cribbs. I’m sold. This dude is a football player and Tomlin loves him. Plus, he’d be on our side instead of killing us all the time. I’m willing to give Cleveland a 2nd and a 6th if they gave me Cribbs and a 7th.
Thoughts?

best idea I've heard in a while
Jackson would make the Steelers alot better, for sure. I’m kinda surprised no one else has been saying this. Great idea, DaTruth.

Jackson
Is he still in his prime? He’s been running hard behind a bad line for a few years now. I’m not sure if he’s got much left. I’d rather see the Cribbs deal, but I don’t see it either. Cribbs wants to get paid. You think the FO would pay up?

Draft picks for trades? This does not sound like what I want to see from the steelers.

A trade for a big, bruising back from the Rams...
The Steelers would never do something like that.

Cribbs
Another thing hurting the possibility of a Cribbs trade is the fact that teams rarely trade in-division… Would love to see him in Black and Gold but I doubt it will happen.
