Tic - tic - tic...
Halfway through the bye. Withdrawal symptoms starting to manifest. Cruising you-tube looking for Steelers clips. Reading every piece of bye fluff offered by the media. My soul is getting beaten to death by ESPN's Favre suck-fest. I don't know if I can take it until Monday next.
It's like the Steelers never beat the Vikings. I don't think the Steelers were mentioned once yesterday. Deanna Favre must be relieved, she never has to give Brett another Hmmmmm ever again, with all the anouncers lined up to do it. Hell, she probably hasn't given him one in ten years.
Here is the thing about the refs, the NFL doesn't allow negative assesments by the coaches and players. Very Pravda. The refs can make unbelievably bad mistakes and no one is allowed to comment. And those that are (And, I'm not sure they are), the media, don't have the Stones?...Heart?...Interest?...reverance for the game. Something has to be done. I'm going to the NFL.com and register a complaint. Do they know how distasteful it is to have to side with the Ravens, again? What could the ref closest to the play where Mason got held, blatently held, have been doing? Looking at the cheerleaders? And then!!!...After Mason is OFF THE FIELD!!!...That peice of S**t, see nothing ref (The ref across the field started throwing flags for him later in the game because he was still looking at something other than the game), throws a flag for unsportsman-like conduct. Unsportsman-like is the gross incompetence the refs show each and every game. And then!!!...to penalize the team for a player showing right and just frustration with the refs inability to see something in plain daylight, that is his assignment and job to see, is beyond incompetent. It delves into malicious. I have never, ever seen a player flaged for showing frustration once he is off the field. Incomprehendable. That ref should be fired!...I think we all should learn to live with the fact that the refs will not be getting any better any time soon and every game is going to have gross imcompetence on the part of the refs (The danger here is that one day a ref is going to start cheating (Some day?) and no is going to notice), but this incident took it to a new height...GRRrrr...
Has the Curse of The Terrible Towel been lifted? It couldn't be Vince Young? No, it was the Towel. But, the Towel won't get the recognition. Instead, desk jockeying gas bags will say: I told you the Titans should have put Vince Young in a long time ago. Does the owner of the Titans get a free slap on Jeff fisher when he is not expecting it now? Just a quick dash through the locker room - *POW* - and he is out the other door.
Alright, what the hell is up with the Panthers and the Cardianls? Did the Panthers pass the curse of the interceptions back to the Cardinals? Last year, the Cardinals travel to play the Panthers in the playoffs, and hand them the curse. After a dismal season so far this year, the Panthers realize the have the curse (It is found in section 139, section d, under seat 3), and Fed-Ex it to themselves (They didn't want to fly with it) at their hotel in Phoenix, where they return it to the Cardinals with a polite note of: No-thanks. Curt Warner sheepishly accepts it back, prays for forgiveness, and throws five interceptions. I'm starting to believe in this crap, and believing is half the battle (See the movie: The Skeleton Key), LOL.
Only two weeks now and I'm going to go ahead and say it: Alex Smith, come-back player of the year. Although, technically, can he come back to a level he has never been to before? Hmmm...
Michael Crabtree = the real deal. I commented a while back about the stupidity of his decision to hold out, and I still stick by that. But, the guy can play. Look out for next year.
For those of you who live in Pittsburgh, face east. The Eagles tore-up the Giants yesterday. it was a break-even day though, what with the Yankees yanking one out of their...
But seriously, DeShaun Jackson can flat-out fly. He aint very big, but he is oh-so dangerous with a free release. McNabb finally has a receiving core he can work with. Will this be the year the Eagles to get back to the big one?
Well-well, the Cowboys are poised to win the Super Bowl again. Too bad they have to win all those games to get there.
The Steelers get Denver, and the Bengals get Baltimore. Bueno. the Steelers can bring more intensity than the Ravens, just ask them. Josh McDaniels is staring down the second shotgun barel waiting for it to go off. As for the Revens-Bengals game, I enjoy seeing both of them lose. I guess I would have to hope that the Ravens win and that the Steelers jump into first place in the AFC north. Then when the Steelers beat the Bengals, they will be two games up on them. Or, should I be rooting for the Bengals to put the Ravens two games behind the Steelers knowing that the Steelers still have to play the Bengals and can beat them then and take possesion of first place in the devision? It's the lesser of two evils here boys and gurls.
I wonder if the Ravens changed their defensive signals before playing the Broncos? If Josh McDanials came from a cheating program, do we still consider him a cheater? Once a cheater, always a cheater?
Tom Cable, what are your good qualities?
I don't know if I've said this before, but I like to say it: Jamarcus Russell, the most expensive paperweight in history. Are we sure Al Davis is really still alive. Where is Jeff Dunham during Al Davis' press conferences? Al, the dead NFL owner. "I'll sign you!"
Sometimes, when there is nothing to do, like watch the Steelers, on the weekend, I like to play internet chess. If you like chess and can't get people to play with you, go here: http://www.freechess.org/ sign-up and download an interface. I recomend the BabasChess interface. You can play people all over the world. You get rated and everything. If you like chess, try it. Get ready to play some gooood players though.
Hang in there everyone.
Go Steelers.

I told you the Titans should have put Vince Young in a long time ago.
He is a game changer, watch how well they do with him in there. Say all you want naysayers, VY is 19-11 as a starter in the NFL. Most of those games came with a terrible team, too. Vince will be a star.
Great post Wyofan, as usual.

When Vince Young was at Texas
They tried to make him run their pro set, and he looked very average doing it. So they changed their offense to a spread and he dominated. In that spread system he had one read most of the time (on passing plays) and then he just took off. You can’t do that in the NFL and be a great QB. He’s easily the worst starting QB in his division.
Boatload of talent, but is he a good QB? Keep in mind he was the third overall pick in 2006 and the numbers he puts up should warrant that selction. To me he’s basically a taller Mike Vick.

Vince Young can make it in the NFL, if he can get his head on straight. He has much better accuracy than Vick, his confidence fails him at times.

Yea but....
…how many who don’t come in with their head on straight and don’t know how to go thru progressions make it? he’ll be a bust again for the same reasons he was a bust B4.

But will he ever live up to that 3rd overall pick?
Keep in mind that Matt Ryan went third overall as well, so he should end up being at least somewhat as good as him.

Tom Brady is awesome, should all 6th round picks play like him?
Where you are picked is relative. It’s where you stack up with your draft class and how the teams evaluate talent. Tennessee picked Young because he has the talent to be a McNair, and to make sure Houston fans would be mad. Young had larger bust potential, but they took that as part of the package.

Oh Please! Don't put your eggs in the VY basket!
This kid is KORDELL STEWART incarnate. He will crumble under the pressure when his team needs him the most. He’s not in college anymore… and his star is stuck in that arena.
When the tailgate drops, the BS stops. Shut up and play!

I believe Kordell is still incarnate.

It's because he's black huh?
Why can’t he be Ryan Leaf incarnate? HUH? Man I’m bout to go join the Black Panthers and take Matt Spaeth with me an pee on your lawn!! Just kidding
We will pee in your bushes.

McNabb is a loser and the Eagles ain't going nowhere.
Every year, some dude picks the Eagles as the team to beat in the NFC and every year, they find a new way to blow it. The Giants have sucked big-time the past few weeks. If they don’t pull it together soon, they’ll be out of the race.

“McNabb is a loser and the Eagles ain’t going nowhere”
Ignoring the absolutely atrocious grammar, that statement is beyond ridiculous.
by worldtrip on Nov 2, 2009 10:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah I know
You don’t like my grammar but you’re OK with J-Man who uses no punctuation whatsoever.
As for McNabb, I’ll admit he’s got great stats for a guy who never won any Super Bowls. But so did Warren Moon.
Put McNabb in a high-pressure, must-win situation and I guarantee you he’s gonna choke. That being said, I have nothing at all against him and he’s been a victim of some real bullshit in many ways over the years in Philly. But after a certain point, you just have to say that McNabb isn’t exactly the guy you’d choose to lead your team into a championship game. If history is any guide, the Eagles won’t make it this year either.

I love j-man
He makes the most of what he has to work with. I’m pretty confident you don’t.

You know, same thing about the Steelers, till we won it in 06. Always found a new way to blow it. McNabb has a ton of wins and does better than he should with the talent he has. Everyone wants to give T.O. credit for their success when he was there, but he hasn’t done anything anywhere else.
McNabb is the reason the Eagles win, and they win a lot.

McNabb is awesome and the Eagles look great right now
Check out Donovan’s stats, you’ll be blown away

It always amazes me that up until this year Ben has always gotten tagged as a game manager for playing great with a pretty good running game and a good defense early in his career, while the limp armed Manning is suddenly worth 9 figures because his defense improved and his offense developed one of the best running games of the past decade.
Manning is a game manager. When he needs to win the game they lose.

that whole push clocks back an hour thing
during our bye week was the nail in my impatient coffin. Can’t wait till Monday’s game

AMEN
I’m getting way too impatient myself, I’ve watched the San Diego, Detroit, Tennessee and Minnesota games over again in the past few days, I need Monday Night to hurry up, lol.

i watched “any givin sunday” the past weekend. That movie always gets back in the right mindset if I start bumming at all during the season(bye week favorite). The speech Pacino gives about fighting for “that inch” always reminds me of our defense. Even thinking about it now has me excited for Monday.

you wyofan are the maryrose of Rambling. and it is funny
"Polamalu’s lineage can be traced through several roots. Chuck Norris mated with an Amazon Queen, and on the other side, Tony Hawk mated with Mother Nature. The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."

Crabtree
Really surprised me. Usually guys who hold out big time have nothing going on in the pro game. They need to get a big first check because that’s all they ever will get.
The best rooks just go out and dominate and then get new contracts after two years. If you are really mad at the team don’t extend with them and let them know why.
