Dusty Drake and songwriting partner Steve Yurjevich set "12th Man" to the melody of Mark Chestnutt's 2004 hit. "The Lord Loves a Drinking Man." Steve wrote the lyrics and contacted Dusty. Steve, Dusty, and Kevin Fowler wrote the final version that Dusty recorded and sang. During the 2008 Superbowl drive the song reached Number 58 on the country music charts.
