Charlie Batch out for six weeks
Steelers QB Charlie Batch, who would have been the starter if Ben Roethlisberger is unable to play this Sunday after taking a hit to the head, has a wrist injury that requires surgery and will sideline him for six weeks, a source close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Batch was injured after he entered Sunday's overtime loss at Kansas City.
Dennis Dixon will move to No. 2.

This is gonna be one of those days, huh.
I’ll say this. If they weren’t going to play Ben this week if we had Charlie Batch, then we shouldn’t play him this week without Charlie. No need to risk anything with the franchise.

This couldn't come at a worse time
With two games against the Ravens left and the last game against Miami, even if we do somehow make the playoffs we might be starting at least 7 or more second stringers. The trainers are going to have a lot of bruises and bumps to deal with from now on.

My questions is this: Was Chuck really so brittle that a medium range pass to Tone is gonna put him out for six weeks?
Well, this is what Dixon was drafted for. Here’s to hoping that whoever fills in for Kemo can pick up the blitz.

Jesus Jokes?
Besides being in extremely poor taste it would seem to me the last thing we would want to do at this particular juncture would be to piss off the King of Kings. Didn’t they say about the Titanic, “God himself could not sink this ship”. Our ship is already sinking, not that I think God gives a hoot about football but if I am going to invoke His name it’s going to be in search of some much needed help.

Sorry Sn0wballz missed this when I posted mine, which I have taken down.
It’ll be interesting to see if they place him IR, because 6 weeks is pretty much the remainder of the season and yet, if we make the playoffs, Batch is an asset to have in case BB goes down (god forbid).
If they do place him on IR, my thoughts are they could stick with Dixon and/or go and sign a veteran guy like Jeff Garcia, or undrafted Rookie Mike Reilly, who they had in during the preseason.
In any case I hope BB gets well soon.

I would really like them to grab Garcia. I think he has a great set of skills that could fit our system. Remember when he almost single-handedly marched Philly to the playoffs in 06? If things seem good with him, I say IR Batch, and grab Jeff.
Anyway, it is going to be a nerve racking week to see who ends up starting this week. I pray to God Ben can make it.

Well, Chuck...
Thank you for everything. We all love you, but it’s time to retire and become a coach. Please stop taking up a roster spot, when you could use your knowledge in so much better ways.
Let’s hope Dixon gives us something if Big Ben can’t go. This team is really breaking my heart and causing me apoplectic fits… Not a good combo for a fat guy.
Next step
Garcia is available, as is Reilly. Patrick Ramsey is also out there (but do we really want him?) and I wouldn’t rule out a trade (conditional pick?) for Lefty with TB signing Garcia as their no. 3. Brian Brohm signed with the Bills, by the way. Other than that, I guess it’s down to good ole Palko as no. 3 and Dixon as no. 2. I don’t really see anything else, any thoughts guys?
Batch should become QB coach
Unfortunately I believe that Batch is just too old to be a consistent back-up anymore. I believe that after this season we should move Dixon in as the #2 QB or keep him as #3 QB and find a replacement for Batch.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that we could still use Batch’s QB expertise as a QB coach?
I say we end this season by saying good bye to both Ken Anderson & Bruce Arians, and finding some decent coaches to help our young offense. I am sick of the same-ole play calling from Bruce Arians game, after game, after game.

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." - Winston Churchill
Cleo Lemon
Undrafted out of Arkansas State in 2001.
After playing on a couple practice squads was traded to the Dolphins. He backed up Joey Harrington (does that say it all right there?) and started once at the end of the season. After Harrington was traded, Trent Green came in and went down to injury. He played alright and didn’t get a win until week 15 (I think that was the 1-15 Dolphins).
Career stats: 15 games played, 8 starts, 55.7 comp%, 2185yds, 8TD, 7INT, 71.8 QBrating, 106 rush yards and 4 rush TDs.
He is not that good really, an okay back up. I’d rather have Jeff Garcia if Ben went down. However, as stated above we signed Tyler Palko.

I agree, I'd rather have Garcia, and I guess we've now got Palko...
I saw Cleo play in those games, my father is a Dolphins fan. While the numbers clearly show one side of the story (1-15 says an awful lot) I saw some flashes of real talent. Not enough that I’d want him starting on Sunday, but, if you give him some time in the system I’d put money on him being a good #2 any day, and as a pinch starter, he’s got game experience, which doesn’t hurt. Remember, that team went 1-15, there wasn’t a lot of talent around him in place to succeed. It’s all a moot point anyway, as we didn’t go in his direction.
