New Focus: The Ravens

The Steelers are 4-1 against the Ravens since Mike Tomlin became head coach. The only loss being the last game of the 2007 regular season. Ben, Hines, Troy, and Marvel Smith did not play. They were resting minor injuries,(except for Marvel, his was more serious) as the game was meaningless, this is extremely difficult to say about a Ravens game, but our position in the playoffs was already locked.

Ben should play this week. Chris Kemoeatu, and Ravens cornerback Fabian Washington (as reported by upabob earlier) won't play, and Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs may not play either. Will Ramon Foster start for Kemo this week? I do not know, but do not expect an update on that situation soon. I hope we don't see any new injuries from this game, but would surely not be surprised if more players are on the injury lists of both teams after this one is over.

Rivalries don't get better than Steelers vs Ravens, especially when you include Steelers vs Browns. Yes, the Ravens obtained the Browns rivalry status, before the move from Cleveland (in my mind anyway). I look forward to these two rivalry games, more than any other games of the year. As much as beating New England in the playoffs? That's pretty close, but not really the focus this week.

So let's move forward, it's time to enjoy Raven week!

I look for a more determined Steelers team against the Ravens. No doubt that we will be "up" for this game.

The Ravens, as always, will be ready for us, and they are fighting for a playoff spot too.

This should be a great game!

Please share your thoughts.

I think

the Ravens are going to watch the new movie “The Blindside” as a team Saturday night and come out and kick our ass on Sunday and I am usually pretty optimistic……..

i can’t figure this year’s Steeler team out, slow start, then a 5 game winning streak and now the last two weeks. who knows what to expect? if anyone does, please enlighten me. the entire NFL has been tough to figure out. if you play in a weekly “pick ’em” league at work or with your buddies, you know what i am talking about. the way these teams play from week to week is impossible to predict.

coaches do that shit all the time, watch a motivational movie and go out and play even more inspired ball. not to mention, it is the story of their #1 pick……

yeah

I had my team watch remember the Titans before a championship game and we lost 7-6 to a team we beat in the regular season 17-7.

Yeah I coached middle school basketball

I gave an awesome speach about Villanova overcoming great odds to beat Georgetown for the national championship. They were pumped. Lost by 20.

I am sure

the speech was great. I’ve heard some good one’s in my day. i got to work a couple of Steeler road games in 1999-2000 because one of our football guys at RMC got on Cowher’s staff and i got to hear his pre-game speech at Tennesee that year in Nashville and I was ready to kill somebody and the Titans came out and rolled the Black and Gold.

Yeah

For one of my football teams I did a Rick Flair monologue. Got the kids fired up and they lost, but they played over their heads.

Depends, are we playing two hand touch or tackle? When it comes to two hand touch no team in the league wants to face the Steelers. We are arguably the most physical touchers (lol!) in the league.

Yea

Hayes has stepped it up big time to. Grevis will get going. I think it is good to see that we are destroying these teams so far with Grevis not even getting double digit points. Once he gets hot, we can be top 15. And get Dino back.

When Dino is back our depth is probably the best it has been since the championship team, as well as the talent (not saying it is anywhere near as good as that team, but it is the best since then). Should be the least disappointing year since 2003.

Most of us were depressed.

The idea behind this poast, was to start pulling ourselves out of it.

Mike Tomlin is making moves on special teams. What was it he said? Something earlier in the year to players, “If you don’t do something about it, I will.” Or something like that. Well he is a man of his word. On a similar note, I think I just got waived. :)
