Around SBN: VIDEO: Austin Rivers' Buzzer Beater Finishes Off UNC

Picking Charlie Batch off of waivers in 2002 was one of the best moves Kevin Colbert has ever made. One that has paid dividends for both the Steelers and Batch.

Even though he is expected back quickly after breaking his wrist, one cannot help but wonder if this latest injury doesn't signal that end of the line is approaching for Batch.

I feel that Chuck Batch would be a very good OC for the Steelers. Of course he’d need to prove himself…I also think he’d be a great QB coach for Ben and the Steelers….but I think that he has a nice future coaching ahead of him.

breathe in deep feel your heart beat, just to know that life's worth livin'. feel your feet on the earth, better love it while it's still here spinnin'.

He's not nearing the end of the line

He’s crossed it.

I’m a Batch fan — he’s done great things for us. But if your backup is the one who’s frequently getting injured, it defeats the point of having a backup. We also need to start giving Dixon some experience.

Excellent Points

Well said. I too am a Batch fan, a big Batch fan. But it is time for him to hang it up this year. Perhaps if Dixon really shows that he has something tonight, one might want to consider Batch as a 3rd QB.

But you can’t have a back up that gets hurt so frequently.

Batch will have a minor injury after the fourth week in the season and be placed on IR...

As a thank you from the Rooney family. He’ll continue in his coaching role and a leader of the NFLPA for the rest of the season. If he is interested in coaching I’d love to see him come back next year as a QB coach.

I wasn’t pleased because we didn’t win - Mike Tomlin (after the 2009 week 2 loss to Chicago).

Well, week 4 is here...

And I hope you’re wrong.

Not gonna pretend I knew Batch was going to play as lights out for us as he did yesterday but I’ve always liked him.
