Hines Ward wins distinctive honor among NFL Players
He was ranked the leagues #1 dirtiest player. This is a badge of honor. Basically, what this means, is that 31 teams defenses all voted for Hines Ward as the dirtiest, because its apparently the only way they can explain/live with the shame of how an ickle wide receiver consistently levels the "biggest and baddest" in the NFL. Keith Rivers(edit) jaw still starts to throb when he watches highlights of the man.
Seriously, this poll does not bother me, it makes me laugh. They really do fear Psycho Ward in the NFL, this poll proves it.
Bonus love for this poll with Joey Porter winning #3. We all know Joey is a Steeler for life so lets show love for him too.
Lets hope Hines goes out with a chip on his shoulder and shows Denver how "dirty" he can be.

Fuck...
You are correct sir.

Weird that I always confuse those too
I always mix their names up. Dont know why, they arent even similar.
I do the same thing with Braylon Edwards and Brandon Jacobs. No idea why, my mind gets them confused for some reason.

Either this place is lit up tonight...
or I am…it’s raining optimism and it’s great. Does this mean Ward putting a hit on Porter in week 17 would be just plain filthy?

It would be like dumping trash on a 60 year old toothless hooker
THEN having sex with her.

yeah baby we should be proud of this…dirtiest player, hell yeah!
"That’s been our story all year. We’ve got a team that doesn’t blink in the face of adversity. It’s never going to be pretty or perfect, if you will, but they’ve got a great deal of belief in one another. They’ve got a great deal of resolve, and it was put on display. Our defense gets a lot of recognition for what they’re capable of, and rightfully so, but what you saw from our quarterback and our offense at the end of that football game is what they’ve provided for us all year. When we’ve needed it the most, they’ve done it and done it big. That’s a rerun for us."

Some don't like to acknowledge it...
but Ward is a dirty player. Rodney Harrison used to get this award all the time because he was a dirty player. If a player falls on this poll but is in the middle or near the bottom, it could just be other players don’t like that player’s physical style. You do not get to be #1 unless you are Dirt like McGirt. And that’s dirty.
It doesn’t bother me. They said Jack Lambert was dirty, too. He worked out pretty well for the Steelers.

I guess the definition of the word dirty is the key
If by dirty they mean:
1. A player that stretches the rules to gain advantage..they it’s an honor
2. Aplayer that lives by no rules and wants just to hurt someone…that is not good
I believe they meant either of both in asking, but most would say that Ward falls into categroy 1. Unless you are Rivers or [enter Raven name]. Anyone who falls into category 1 will be deemed dirty because the one on the recieving end hates to admit they they were outplayed. Man if you aren’t pushing the rules you aren’t trying hard enough.

The disparity
between he and the second place (A. Haynesworth) is marked, being 11.6% of the votes for Hines and 6.0% for the head stomping Haynesworth.
I concur with the sentiment that a player is deemed dirty by the opponent if he show’s them up. I would be curious to know, of the 34 or so people who voted for (against?) Hines, which of those were Linebackers or Defensive Backs that Hines jacked up on the playing field. Further, what percentage of those 34 or so players were Bengals or Ravens.
I love scientific polls.

Laughable
Ok, I can understand how these crybabies can call Hines dirty because he’s so aggressive and just a hard nosed freakin FOOTBALL player who shames these Nancy boys with legal hits. But in all my years of watching Polamalu, I cannot recall one of his actions that would be remotely be considered dirty. It’s football ladies, not lawn bowling. These punks who call Troy and Hines dirty wouldn’t do it if they were their teamates. Jealous mofo’s.

Hines interview
The interview on NFL network before the Vikes game was impressive. Hines is about the most forthright player I’ve seen in awhile. He’s not an arrogant player; he’s a confident one and people get that confused. He said he hears that he’s famous for hitting defenders when they aren’t looking. His answer was “Well then LOOK! I don’t ask YOU to wait until I get the ball before you hit ME!” He also said (in a nutshell) that if playing aggressive football is the new “dirty” then he’s ok with that. So am I, Hines. So am I.
