Comcast Weekly Red Zone Update

Because the Steelers didn't play this week, there's nothing to update on their front. So instead, let's take a look at the Denver Broncos season to date performing in the red zone. As always, many thanks to Comcast and their new and critically aclaimed Red Zone Channel for their sponsorship of BTSC and the other many fine SB Nation football blogs this season.

On to Denver's performance. These tables were taken directly from Mile High Report. It was only updated through Week 7, so below the tables, you can find their performance against Baltimore. As you'll see, they've not been all that great on offense in the red zone - having to settle for a high number of field goals. On defense though they've been quite solid, particularly the first four weeks of the season.

Really shows you something.

Interesting that the only game they offensively broke 50% RZ rating was hosting the Pats. Thats pretty sad. You had Oakland, Dallas’ porous defense, the BENGALS before they got hot, and the clowns…

They clearly have issues finishing things. Drives. Seasons. Player contracts. Lets hope that trend continues.

I must say

That the observations are acurate. Our offense has been simply the little engine that could lately, putting and putting and put put put put put, to the Victory. well 6 times at least. I view the stealers as a locomotive offensively. Of course the big question is….which defense will….defend…..better.

Our little engine that could does pack a wallop when it gets up to speed, and our new and improved defense, well its more like a big stone wall.

so does your locomotive offense have enough oomph to break through that wall? or does our little engine that could offense find a way to pick up speed.

only monday will tell.

good luck!!

Actually I think I was thinkin too much

Im pretty sure we just run on James Harrison. Its the answer to the energy crisis. Renewable, clean, and high yield fuel.

Their D

Not too many trips by opposing offenses to the red zone. The broncos are suffocating offenses to just an average of 2 red zone appearances per game. I hope our run game is efficient this game. We’re going to need it clicking to get those sustained clock eating drives together.

Bring a towel to the game. Black or gold or yellow. If you don't have one buy one, If you can't buy one, dye one!!!

the...red zone against the broncos

The key is the broncos D’s aggressiveness. As Sun Tzu writes in The Art of War, attack your opponents strength. How often have we seen this method employed against our Steelers when teams use misdirection or quick screens against the overpursuit of the D?

Likewise, good base OLine protection, solid running, and some disguised plays (draws, runs out of the spread, play action) could disrupt the aggressive broncos D and allow our O to maintain possession. Let’s do it.
