Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6) at Cleveland Browns (1-11) - Pre-game and first half open thread

Our fearless leader Blitzburgh is travelling tonight, so I'm covering in his absence. A few months ago, a prime time game in Cleveland could mean only one thing - guaranteed victory. Now, we're not so sure. Look for this game to depend on whether Rashard Mendenhall can get it going - it's cold and windy on the blighted shores of Lake Erie.

In the meantime, enjoy watching what could be the last meaningful game of the season - Let's Go Steelers!!!

Stellar defender returns

I know, from last year’s great defense, we have lost Aaron Smith, Troy, McFadden, Foote…..and… making his big return tonight! Old Man Winter! Yeah, should be a big help, where has he been all year.

Lets find feeds? NFL.com will have a life feed, but

NFL.com feeds leave a lot to be desired. they often cut back to the nfl network studio and you miss significant amounts of the game.

if burnett had blocked on the first ko against the raiders,

then logan would have had a TD. burnett sucks. he stopped to watch logan make that DB miss at the end of the play, instead of turning and blocking the eventual tackler.

Jesus christ tell me about it.

I want someone to put together a video of each time Harrison is held with no call, so that we can get a million of us to all email it to the NFL and demand action next year.

Could you imagine how pissed other teams fans would be if they got called for holding 10-15 times a game against us?

I guess the alternative is even worse, which is giving up 10 sacks a game against us.

I have not been a guy who has been harsh on BA, but I am fed up…3rd and 1 and they hardly even considered using a RB. Then they go empty set on 3rd and 3. They did empty set twice in the red zone on the opening drive LAST game too. WHY WHY WHY?!!! Screw BA. I’m done with him. He sucks.

By the way...

On a serious note guys, can this be considered about their with one of the worst meltdowns ever? I’m 25 so I dont know the whole history and not like there is a stat, but what is the worst meltdown by a SB champion?

Steelers are going to win this game. But they can’t beat Green Bay playing like this.

Something has to be done

On a couple of sacks

The replay showed that Ben had his checkdown open but didn’t throw it. Looks like another Babe in the Woods game by Ben…

If you buy a foreign made product you give money to a person who will not be buying an American made produdt that you get paid to make. Think about it next time you're at the store.

I hate the cover two defense...

i blame the defense’s lack of aggressiveness, and therefore lack of effectiveness, on tomlin and his emphasis on tackling and covering instead of attacking and interceptions… We don’t do bend-but-don’t-break… Defend Every Blade of Grass!!!

1 possession game now

1 TD away

You guy's better read this, cuz I didn't do research for nothing! :P

So yeah, I decided to just not watch a bit, I’m too nervous, the game is still one though, great catch by the way :P

Anywhoo, so I looked at every Super Bowl champions record after they’ve won it and this is what I got:
Packers 68’ (6-7), Raiders 81 (7-9), Niners ’82 (3-6), Giants ’87 (6-9), Redskins ’88 (7-9), Broncos ’99 (6-10), Bucs ’03 (7-9)

The Packers still played in the 13 game seasons, we’ll exclude that, the Niner’s played in that weirdo season of ‘82, and (yes that’s a horrible record) and the rest speaks for itself. So it’s not the worst ever, cuz even if we lose out, we’d be tied with the ‘99 Bronco’s but that’s a team that saw it’s franchise QB retire so I give it to them. I have no clue why the ‘87 season was 15 games though, too tired to look that up, but 6 out of 15 is still better than 6 out of 16. So that leaves me with a conclusion the worst post SB meltdown is by the Bronco’’s but again that was with a new QB after Elway, so damn… we might be up here and that weird list if things go badly (I only looked at losing records not .500 seasons, there were a few of those, our Steelers are one of them :P)

It’s a one possession game now, and as upset as i am of how this team has played this far, even in this game, it’s a hell of a game, and it aint over yet!
