It could get ugly on Sunday...

Well, as the headline says, it could get ugly this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Let's start out on the focus of our offense. We know that man-to-man coverage eats us alive (watch the 2008 matchup of the steelers and eagles, the matchup between the browns and steelers thursday night, and the most recent bengals and steelers game). Fortunately for us....the Packers like to run man-to-man considering they have a possible defensive player of the year in Charles Woodson and a solid linebacking core. Bruce Arians has to realize that our pass plays that are good against zone aren't necessarily good against man coverage, so I'd like to see him adjust his offense in a game for the first time ever. Oh, and that empty back formation where there's no back blocking for Ben...Yeah. It doesn't work that well. Especially on 3rd & 1. Many fantasy helper sites are saying to sit Rashard which I completely understanding considering that we're playing against the #1 defense in the nfl and Chris Kemeoatu is out for this game so we have a rookie starting in his place (who I like to say isn't great at pulling at all). We'll need to be able to get big pass plays down the field and most importantly, convert on third downs to keep drives alive.

Defensively, our corners need to play more agressive against receivers because they allow receivers to run free and they don't even tackle them after the catch! Green bay has some talented receivers in Jennings, Driver, and Jones so they may be able to pick apart our WEAK secondary. Our #1 concern is to continue to stop the run efficiently and be able to get pressure on Aaron Rodgers. He's the most sacked qb in the nfl, but he has barely been touched these last few weeks, so we have to rely on our pressure to change this game around.

Honestly, I don't think we win this. However, wouldn't it be great to see us win out this season and finish 9-7 and see the Bears upset the Ravens this weekend, the Falcons beat the Jets, and the Titans beat the dolphins to put us closer and closer to a wild card spot? We sneak into the 6th seed of the AFC and by then, we get Troy who single handedly brings our defense back together and we make a run for a 7th super bowl??

Hey. A guy can dream right?

What do you think we'll have to do to win this game? I'd like to hear your thoughts!
