Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Sign Madison

I don't think Anthony Madison is a cure-all for the coverage problems, but I do think he was a solid special teams player for the Steelers the past few years. The Colts cut him December 1. Pittsburgh should bring him back. Personally, I'd let Patrick Bailey go. The Steelers don't need him at linebacker and he's played poorly on ST this year.

I think Fernando Bryant is still retired. Anyone? Anyone?

Agreed

I haven’t been able to understand why the Steelers seem so averse to re-signing Madison. Not like the guy has a history of being a great player in the secondary, so I can’t imagine his price tag is that high.

I think the coaches see something in Bailey we all don’t. I think him and Frazier are our back-ups at OLB, so I don’t think they will cut him for a CB. We should sign him though and IR Batch.

I like Bailey

And like what Johnny_S says. Batch to IR, bring in Madison. I think he was better than solid on ST last year. I’ve always seen him as the ace of the ST unit because he would always get down their first. I’m not sure how many special teams tackles is considered a lot but he had 19 last year, and I think that’s pretty damn good.

I’d prefer someone that could cover a running back on a simple pass pattern.

Pittsburgh waived defensive back Corey Ivy. Also, Indianapolis claimed defensive back Anthony Madison on waivers from Pittsburgh.

Wooohoo!!!!!

Madison is not a cure all, but he’s a solid special teams player, and adding even one such should improve the units. I’m very glad he’s back.

Don't expect Madison to solve all of our ST problems...

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he’s back, he’ll certainly help, but I hope no one falls into a trap thinking he’s here to save the day. Because by now we should have all learned a lesson in unrealistic expectations… just sayin’.
