Anthony Madison back on the Roster
All day long Steeler Nation has been clamoring for Anthony Madison to be back on the roster, and now he is. Presumably this is a move to continue to unleash hell upon the special teams unit. Corey Ivy did a decent job this last week on special teams, but he recorded no tackles.
It is hard to say what the fix for the steelers is on special teams. However, it is worth noting that with Madison back the Steelers can (I believe) deploy a coverage unit exactly the same as one that they deployed last year.

Having A. Madison back definitely can't hurt unless ...
Our starting corners get hurt and he has to play corner. Oh, wait … Just kidding.
Just got the JW tweet
Great news!

Wow- this is because we collectively all wished for it.
Now lets all collectively think about running the table. :)
or maybe steelers staff are reading this blog for ideas now.
Ha ha, I didn’t mean to apply causality.
I expect Bruce Arians to be fired tomorrow if that is the case though.

Our collective thoughts can only do so much.

whew about time,
lets just hope INDY completes their pefect season just look at the teams they play and you should know why,
Wow I never thought I would b rooting for the Colts but they sure could help us big tim
On steelerfury it was noted that if the Colts win out, the steelers will make the playoffs. (predicated upon the steelers not sucking, obviously)
Indeed, they play almost all wildcard contenders – TEN, DEN, JAC, and NYJ
WOOO Indy.

Easy to root for Colts
…during regular season. Because he just can’t win a playoff game. Nine times in the playoffs, 7 times with 12 or more regular season wins. And? Six one and outs, two AFC championship games, one win.
Go Colts!!

STOKED
Tomlin is turning over boulders to get this team to the playoffs. I commend him for that.
Bring a towel to the game. Black or gold or yellow. If you don't have one buy one, If you can't buy one, dye one!!!
Can he turn over Bruce Arian's boulder?
Cause thats the one that is costing us games with shitty playcalling.
Did you mean turn over a boulder ONTO Arians?
Because that’s what I would like to see.

Gladiator!!!
I will watch that movie again just to further the cause of Steeler Nation!!!
Unleash Hell!!!!!!
Do I see a youtube Steeler/Gladiator video in the future? I HOPE SO!
are you not entertained!!?
I could see tomlin walking in the middle of heinz and screaming that. Everyone falls silent. Then one towel waves, then another, then two more, and pretty soon…..

The big move was Harrison
Harrison being back on ST was the key. Our kick coverage was solid. Punt coverage still needs some work as we saw, but Harrison to me was the only piece that we really moved.
The ST unit kept most of its starters this year, BUT silverback was being protected. Or rather, the opposing return man was being protected. I imagine the league requested Harrison not play ST anymore, due to the lethality of his tackles.
Homer's been calling for this for weeks....
…but a dude at the Trib came about as close as a sportswriter can come to saying on the day Madison was cut that Tomlin was making a mistake. Personnel decisions at cutdown time are always a gamble.
There are tons of coaches and player personnel people who are too proud and too insecure to admit they made a mistake. By picking up Madison, Mike Tomlin has shown once again that he is neither arrogant nor stiff-necked. Rather than deny he made a mistake, he’s been confident enough to “man up” and correct it.
I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet beer.

BC era
Remember when the Chin-coached teams had Special Teams suckiness and he would do absolutely ZILCH to fix the issue? Just another example of what, at least in the early going, appears to separate the BCE from the MTE. Hard to compare a 15 career to a 3 year career, but, its looking good so far. Perhaps I, or someone more motivated than me, will prepart a 3 year summary of the two. Off the bat, I can think of one stat that puts Mikey the T ahead of The Chin – SB XLIII
Peace

In Cower's defense
the STs weren’t as bad in the BCE as they’ve been this year.
That said, I like the move on Tomlin’s part.
Please do not take offense to this
But I wonder if your recollection is a bit fuzzy. I remember many years that it was as bad if not perhaps worse. BC flat out refused to even use a starter let alone waive someone.

ST during BCE were horrible
So, was the pass defense, at least during the late BCE. Both those issues seem to have returned this year.

So if he
made a mistake with that then when is he finally going to admit he made a mistake with arians??????????
Welcome Back ....

Proof that the Steelers Front Office
Reads BTSC
I wasn’t pleased because we didn’t win - Mike Tomlin (after the 2009 week 2 loss to Chicago).
+1 Hahah
I’ve heard BTSC mentioned around Steelers news more than once. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone in the actual organization read it.

I was optimistic that we would be ok without him
because in preseason I thought JBurnett, Mundy, and others showed good speed and spunk. But now like the Steelers mgmt I’ve had a change of heart and glad to see Madison back. It seems to me we have guys who are so eager to get downfield, their momentum carries them right past the return man. Madison is a guy who had that awareness/moxie of where the ball is/will be going as a gunner.
Defensive co-captain James Harrison is back on the unit, and there will be consequences!!! Carey Davis returned from the roster cuts and injury and made a play in at least one of the last 2 games. Throw in recent signees Boiman and Ivy. Wow! Way to face the issue from a personnel perspective! Plus, according to the Football Outsiders stats site (previously mentioned on this blog), ST co-captain (with Jeff Reed) Keyaron Fox has a bunch of ST tackles (again), so he’s been more active than I had noticed. I expect less anxiety in this area going forward, optimistic that they will deliver. I’m glad to see an appreciation that they are an important part of the team, not some auxiliary sub-unit.
Now we need to WIN this game. Tomlin talked about having a hunger and a commitment to win for each other. I want to see that HUNGER, plus FIRE!

He was there last game
The announcers even spotted him “Running down there like he’s trying to make the team” on a kick return.

experience and especially desire count
Madison has both. Some players have s knack for ST. Plus he likes to hit (like Deebo) and he loves the Steelers organization.
Intangibles can help. Glad to have Madison back.
