Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

I heard a rumor...

That Troy may in fact be out for the rest of this season. Now this wouldn't surprise me because troy has started very few games this season and has injured the same knee twice, but with two seperate injuries. Now if he really is out for the season, I think the Steelers should put in some of the youngsters at corner because Gay will most likely be out of the browns game with the concussion he suffered from the ryan mundy hit. I mean I don't think our secondary could look any worse considering that play-action passes against us have destroyed our defensive backs and our linebackers aren't getting the same pressure as they did last year.

Now if you guys read my last fan post, you would know that I was very optimistic about the rest of the 2009 season, but upon further rule, my opinion has been overruled. The steelers have showed me during this four game losing streak that they really don't have the attitude and passion that they played with all through last year or years before. I know, I know...We still have a chance to make it to the playoffs if we win out and for some of the wild card contenders to lose, but honestly people it's hard to be optimistic right now. I mean to have a receiver go over 100 yards, to have a qb who had a qb rating of over 120, to have an outside linebacker to get two sacks, to get a running back over 100 yards and over 5 ypc and not beat a poor oakland raiders team? We allowed bruce to get 3 td's in the FOURTH QUARTER ALONE. Imagine the steelers d without troy against a potent passing attack of the green bay packers...Nightmares already. Let's be honest people. I think we, as steelers fans, have been spoiled with all these victories in such a short span since 2004 and we just gotta face it. If Troy doesn't come back to help out our defense and if Ben can't find some consistency in the offense, we'll just have to get ready for next year and root for any team that faces the Bengals and possibly the Ravens in the playoffs :)

Let's just hope for the best and that we can finish off strong this season starting against the browns this Thursday. Oh by the way, Hines most likely will not play this game and before you say "it's just the browns!" remember...we lost to both the chiefs and raiders already..

I'll stick behind the steelers for the remainder of the season however and hope for the best. Maybe I need to start going to church every sunday that we play. I mean i did it for the super bowl and look what happened :D

Lets go Steelers.

Defense

Last year the Steelers D has two good corners in Taylor and Mcfadden and what happened, decided to leave Mc to the free agency thinking Gay has the tools to cover him but the result shows a different thing.

The Steelers this year are playing without heart and think Tomlin needs to rejoin the team and seeing what is happen now and gives the correct direction to this team

Was frustrated saw the Steelers lost the game yesterday

If the problem was a PCL you may be on to something

That would require surgery and at this point would be best to get done now and get ready for next year.

Yep

I believe it’s a PCL this time rather than the sprained MCL he had at the beginning of the season

I really don't think it's attitude or passion

A huge dropoff in talent in the secondary after Troy.

Of course

Talent is a huge factor when it comes to production, but even if you have talent, but no fire, then what’s the use? A player can be talented or athletic as a super human, but if they don’t put the work into practice or if they don’t seem like they’re putting alot of effort on every play (which seems like the case for the steelers) then talent means nothing.

My Theory...

Coach Tomlin was waiting to see how these games without him would shake down. Had we won, I imagine he’d have brought Troy back to help out during the stretch to help us get a playoff berth.

But now, seeing as the season is all but over, I doubt we’ll see Mr. Polamalu again until ’10.

^^^^That's stupid.

We will beat the Stains, and then Troy will play vs. The Packers. If he doesn’t, we are conceding that the season is over which it won’t mathematically be in week 15 at 7-6.

If Tomlin doesn’t play Troy, we can call it a big L vs. the Packers at our place as Rodgers will throw all over us. I don’t know about you, but that’s not how I want our season to end.
