Monday Night Football Open Thread
If you're going to be watching tonight's important Monday Night Football Game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Green Bay Packers, chat away with fellow Steelers fans (myself included) as the action unfolds. Who knows if the Steelers will get their act together and make a run at a playoff berth, but if they do, it would help if they got a little bit of help from their fellow contenders, beginning tonight at Lambeau Field.

Blitz – who is ahead of us for the wild card berth. Unlike some steeler fans I’m trying to keep hope. Understanding that it is going to be difficult to make it to the playoffs can you please provide an update on what needs to happen. Sincerely, a true steeler fan just looking for any good news. Denver and the Jags are ahead and by a good bit too. There is still hope and i’ll hold on to it with you. I did a little summary here.

The teams ahead of us currently are the Jags holding the last Wild Card spot and the 6th seed. Here are the seeds as follows:
7. Ravens (6-5)
8. Dolphins (6-6)
9. Jets (6-6)
10. Steelers (6-6)
Yes we are tenth, we need Baltimore to lose and Miami beating the Jaguars would make things interesting, we could be playing against them in week 17 for the final wild card, the Jags have tough schedule ahead face the Colts and Patriots after the Dolphins, so you never know in this league!

Lots of different scenarios still in play. Basically we need some combination of these things:
Baltimore to lose 1 game + the game against us. That’d get them to at least 7 losses.
Jacksonville to lose two more (they still play @ IND, and @ PHI) – that’d get them at least 7 losses.
Miami – doesn’t really matter what they do because we play them in Week 17. If we win out including against them to conclude the regular season, we’d be ahead of them.
New York Jets – need them to lose one more. They play @ TB this week, then @ IND in Week 16 (they could be resting starters by then). They also play the Bengals in Week 17 who might have shut it down if they have the #2 seed wrapped up by then, and they play the Falcons two weeks from now.
And of course, we need to win out. It’s POSSIBLE, we could sneak in if we lost another one, but it’s definitely not likely.

actually not as bad as I thought
I never give up hope but I’ll admit I had a rather somber outlook on our situation. However, after reviewing what you said here there is defiantly hope. I could really see all those teams helping us out (though, not purposefully).
The hardest part is winning out which we should do, but then again, we shouldn’t lose to the Cheifs or the Raiders. Green Bay scares me but we played well against good teams for the most part.
I am definitely watching this game!
This game can hold big implications and God I’m still not over Mr. Malor and Baltimore Warriors taunts last night. :P

If we draft in the 15-20 range, he might still be available. Probably not, but we could also trade up a bit to get him, as we already have a ton of youngsters on the team already and dont really need to have a deep draft next year so much as hit it big on two important picks.

I tried last week to rally the fans
i tried to get everyone on board because I thought our team was on board to lay a beatdown on the lowly raiders. Well they broke my heart by putting half of theirs into the game. And then these guys show up with brand new names or haven’t posted since Tommy Maddox played a snap. Telling me that I’m a bad fan for being a realist. I’ll bleed Black & Gold till I die but I know when we’re out and we’re definitely out. It would take divine intervention for this team to make it past the first round of the playoffs

Tough to stay motivated sometimes
Some losses are tougher than others. My daughter in LA was mortified we lost to the (gulp) Raiders. She said the “wt f-word”. I have a bar of dial soap with her name on it for that one.

If you compare him to Ben's second year though as alot around here are he having trouble
But then again Ben had the components WR, Willie Parker. and a good defense. Even then he played great in the playoffs but poorly in SB.

Well the NFL Europe is gone and meh, I watch the NFL avidly cuz I am from the Carribean, Dutch Antilles, tiny island called Curacao (near the hated Aruba) so I’ve been watching the Sunday games with my uncles ever since I can remember, they are major soccer fans here, I am also a major fan, just like both and both get played on Sundays, so Sunday’s rules! Still prefer American Football though, World Cup kicks ass though, go Netherlands!!!!
