SIXBURGH STEELERS ARE ON PACE TO WIN 9 SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS
There's no doubt that the greatest franchise in NFL history is the Pittsburgh Steelers, with their record 6th Championship win in Super Bowl 43. But how about this scenario, with a very good young coach in Mike Tomlin and a franchise QB, who'll just be turning 27 in March '09, and has yet to reach his optimum prime, the Steelers could be looking at another 3 rings in their trophy case before Big Ben decides to hang up the Steel helmet for good at the end of his career, which in theory is at least 10 years away. It's pretty scary for others team to contemplate such domination but its very real and could easily come true
The only area of vulnerability for the Steelers heading into next season ('09) is the quality of the Offensive Line, it can and will get better through the Draft and FA this offseason, which means even more time for Ben to throw and of course the running game will get back to the sheer dominance it used to exude the last 30 years before this somewhat average running season Pitt just had n '08
The only thing Steeler Nation has to hope for over the next few season is a relatively injury free situations for their core-franchise players (which can be a crapshoot in the NFL, its a very physical league) and what type of slogan and catch phrases they can create for all the Super Bowl Championships the Steelers will be potentially winning down the road, try these on for size........"5 RINGS plus 2, u know how the Super Bowl Steeler7 do"........."Don't hate on 8 for the Champion Steeler Greats"...... "8 is not enuff, the Champion Steelers look Fine with 9"

Thinking 8 at best
Listen up, here is the thing.
While our O-line is the only weak link, its hard to keep people up over a long period of time.
I think next year is our best shot at a repeat but you just dont know.
Two years from now Hines might not be playing. 3 years from now Aaron smith may be gone. Those guys are key pieces to our team. We all know what happened without smith.
You basically have to like our chances at a 7th ring soon. But even then anything beyond that is going to require excellent “parts replacement skills”

Nine will be hard
I look at this thing historically. Think about all of the great QBs… Bradshaw and Montana managed four apiece. And they were able to operate in a world of very limited player movement, so a team could stay together longer.
Jim Kelly made it to four Super Bowls. John Elway made it to Five. But, in the most recent “dynasty,” Aikman made it to three.
It’s hard to get there, let alone win the thing.
If you figure Ben has an incredible career… he maybe makes it two more times. I mean, if he ends his career with 4 Super Bowl rings, it will be historic. That would give the Steelers eight.
I’m going to be really happy with seven though…

While the ...
Steelers organization lives one game at a time, you’ve got 9 Super Bowls in the bag and must be trying to win the 10th by now … :o))). it could be, but it will be very tough.

On a pace to win 9
Indeed they are. On their current pace of on average one super bowl win every 7 years, they will get their 9th super bowl in 21 years.
Watching them win their 9th will be an excellent way to spend my first year of retirement.

Dear Football Gods-
Please forgive my dear SteelerNation friend. He knows not what he does. Although he makes an interesting statistical point, I’m certain that he does not intend to invoke your anger by appearing to “expect” our beloved Steelers to win Superbowls. Please do not punisgh us with another 25 year Superbowl drought because of this honest miscalculation! All of us here in SteelerNation understand and accept that it is a gift and a blessing to win Superbowls, and that those blessings are bestowed by you: the Great Gods Of Football, upon those most deserving and humble fans of teams who work hard and uphold the best traditions of football, teamwork and fanhood*.
Amen, and Forever Bless the Great Football Gods!
Thanks,
SteelerNation
*except that one time, you know- with that one bunch of guys and their digital cams. But we understand that even Gods aren’t perfect.
