Ray Ray to the 'Boys?
Posting this as a fanpost as I think it could generate some discussion.
We've all heard the rumors that Lewis could possibly play in Dallas. I think it's our concern because a Ray Lewis-less Ravens team makes playing in the AFC North seem a bit easier. In my opinion Ray Ray is the heart of that team and literally picks them up when they are down and gets them ready to go out and fight every game. I don't think he's got the skill he once had, but I still think he should remain on the field simply for what I just mentioned above.
I also think it's ridiculous that Ray Lewis wants to be a cowboy.
See this article:
http://blogs.usatoday.com/thehuddle/2009/02/ware-ray-lewis.html
Demarcus Ware stated that Ray Lewis said 'I want to wear this star on my helmet, that's my dream . . . that's my dream.'
Really? Ray Ray's dream is to be with a chaotic organization that hasn't won a playoff game since 1996?? Really?
I guess he doesn't care about superbowls anymore, or perhaps he knows that if his team has to play the Pittsburgh Steelers twice a year he will never make it.

The only thing I could get out of the article was that perhaps Ray thinks that his presence will be enough to gel that team together.
Frankly, I think it might be.

I think he ver well might
help them win. The cowboys did not lack for talent. They lacked chemistry. I could see this going either way, but I do think Ray is a leader.
As a fan though it would be great to see Ray Lewis go the cowboys and watch them have yet another self-destructive season. That would make me ( :

I prefer that the Ravens overpay a lot but
if he goes to Phallus, my bad, Dallas…then that’s cool too…I can still hate him almost as much! bwahhhhahahah. As my grand-dad was fond of saying…I’d like to buy him for what he’s worth and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth! The reality is that he is over-rated and has been for quite some time. My money says he’d probably end up being a locker room cancer in Dallas and not a big leader, b/c he’d not be the center of attention…my 2 cents.

Ahhhhhh, the best of both worlds.
Overpay the donkey and drain the ratbirds money for someone that will soon be washed up, or let him go to that joke of a team, the cowgirls. Either situation is excellent. I don’t know about you, but if someone on our team who had been here as long as donkey has been on the ravens, and said it was “his dream to play for dallas”, I’d almost welcome his departure!!!!!!!!

i'd buy his plane ticket
any self-respecting steeler has a healthy hatred for dallas, if they came out with that statement they dont need to be on the team I think Dan Rooney would make sure of it

Not picking up what they're putting down
Ray is not going to cure what ails this team. First of all, his play is on the decline and should drop off even more next year (remember, last year he was, at best, the fourth best player on that defense even in a contract year).
Second of all, an old free agent does not create chemistry. Do you really think T.O., Romo, and Witten want to listen to Ray Ray. No way. These guys are entrenched and have their consitutencies in the locker room built up. Once Ray gets his contingent of followers this will just create a third faction.
Third of all, this only means I am going to hear “Drama in Big D” 7,484,832 more times this year than last year. Man, I hate hearing about that crap.

Well
you have to admit, hearing about Dallas’ woes is pretty funny. At least if Ray Lewis does go to Dallas, when TO & Romo shed some tears, it will be because of a painful beating given to them by Ray Lewis for losing to Pittsburgh yet again. Oh well, wherever RayRay ends up, he’ll still feel the wrath of the Pittsburgh Steelers . & Rashard Mendenhall.

Leadership is earned, not given
Ray is a leader in Baltimore. He has earned it.
He cannot, however, walk into Dallas and have the same leadership “given” to him by Jerry. Any more than Romo can have it next year by simply saying he wants it. Ben was not the leader of this football team in 2005. He is one of the leaders now.
I think Ray will go to Dallas, frankly, because Jerry needs a new trophy to put fans in his new Stadium. From a business standpoint, it makes a lot of sense for Dallas. But Ray will not be the leader (or player) in Dallas that he is (and can be) in Baltimore.
I have said it before… I expect Baltimore to have a severe drop-off this year — and that is regardless of whether Ray stays or goes… the fact is they are losing SOMEONE… it is just a question of who… I think Ray knows this. He knows they cannot contend for the division next year, and so he is looking for a way out. Can you imagine all of the press he will get if the Ravens go 8-8 next year? And, if at the same time, the Cowboys MAKE the playoffs (forget about winning them) his legend will only grow.
And… oh yeah… he’ll make a boat-load of money doing it, live in a warmer climate, and pay no State Taxes…
Yeah… Ray is a Cowboy next year…

That actually makes a lot of sense
But let me ask you this. What do you think of the Steelers paying Max Starks $8 million?
by worldtrip on Feb 24, 2009 2:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The Devil you know...
I think Max Starks is getting paid top dollar for a guy who is slightly above average… that being said, on a line who is well below average, he doesn’t look half bad.
The Steelers signed our best lineman to a deal, and will look to plug the holes around him. It’s not as good as a great OL line coach who can find you diamonds in the rough for pennies on the dollar… but far better than paying one guy Alan Faneca type numbers and hoping one guy will make the difference.
Th OL is a team. A “pretty good” team will always be better than one stud and a bunch of “Hey Yous” around him.
So, I guess I am saying that I wish we had better options… and it is over-paying the guy — but not by much… so it was probably the right thing to do.

Ray Ray
Will fit right in. Won’t be a big play maker. Won’t be able to get chemistry going in the locker room. Will only fit in because of his loud mouth. It will be the last of his playing days. Sad it has to be on that sorry ass team. Man I hate them Cowboys.
