HAHA! Who has the last laugh world?? Steeler Nation does!! You said he ran around too much and always went deep to no success. Consider the fact that he was mostly put in obvious 3rd down passing situations; mostly with 6+ yards to go!! And ya he did not exactly have a steady line; no pro bowlers at all!! But the guy played mostly above average football based on Qb rating and statistics!! But thats just statistics that the world judges players by. They will never know what Steeler Nation now knows; BIG BEN IS A LEGEND IN THE MAKING!!
Now this was not exactly a breakout year for Ben. He has been amazing since his first start; a nice comeback against a good ravens 'D' we lost sadly! But next thing u know: He becomes Starting Rookie QB Winning Streak record Holder, Leads us to the AFC Champ game Twice in a row (which is also a record he holds), Wins a Superbowl as the Youngest Starting QB (Which Is Why He Was Nervous), He has a rebound and sets FRANCHISE RECORDS after costing his team a trip to the playoffs, and He just Locked His Ticket to the HOF with his current superbowl performance!! So yeah if you didnt know anything i just wrote you are not Bleeding Black and Gold like Steeler Nation Faithful!!
2008 was what i thought the best season of Bens career so far. But i do think he will top it mutiple times in his career!! Stastically Ben was good; not great but just good. In reality Ben was Legendary; not just great but Legendary!! This guy played this season like a warrior; with no fear at all!! He was determined to win no matter what; and his teamates fed off his hunger!! If Steeler Football is truly 60 minutes, Ben defines it!! Their is just no quit in the guy folks!! Now let me tell u why he was a Legend in 2008!!
In 2008 he showed three qualities that i think will make him a legend!! Right off the bat u can tell this guy has MENTAL TOUGHNESS!! He lead six game winning drives in 08. True Steeler Nation Faithful know this; you cant forget if you try. The Jags Game; WOW what a display of athleticism!! The Ravens Home Game; He took that win with Determination!! Not to mention bouncing back from Bad Games; games where the OL let him be a Running Back!!
He also showed more of what we saw in 07; the ability to DOMINATE teams!! He showed it in 07; just look at the stats!! He simply Outplays teams who dont have speed on D; without it they cant contain him!! 07 against the Browns (41 yard rushing TD), Bengals (1 Rushing TD), Miami (NOone could run in that game), and others. 08 he DOMINATED the Bengals, Ravens (Just Twice), New England, and Houston!! There are times when it is impossible to dominate because of his OL. But he still avoids many sacks with his Athleticism!! Sure he holds on too long at times when he should not. But sometimes its the reason he gets a W (4th Qtr comebacks)!! Behind a better OL he could be Dominant against anyone!!
Man i have not even mentioned how Tough as Nails he is!! He played with a Bad (never clearly stated injury) shoulder for multiple games!! Bounced back from a Concussion (that is supposedly worst than once thought) and leading his team to a SuperBowl!! Than led a 80 yard TD drive going 4 of 5 with a Game Winning TD to win the 6th ring with broken ribs!! Did i mention he scrambled like every time he found an open reciever. Is this the TOUGHNESS of a legend (like John Elway) or what!!
On a last note his escapabilty and the accuracy he throws with when off balance is like nothing i have ever seen!! The throw to Hines in the Jags game was Amazing!! And he is even better when given time to throw!! This guy is both a pocket QB and scrambling QB. You rarely find QBs like him!! He can make u miss, look you off, shake you off, bomb you deep, drag you around, and run past you if you give him the chance!! His talent alone is Legendary!! He is more aathletic than Brady, Manning, Brees, and Romo!! And people still say he is not on their level!!
thoughts?? criticism?? let them be heard...
