Around SBN: Why We're Skeptical Of LeBron James

Daniel Holtzclaw, LB, Eastern Michigan University

Since I'm stuck in Kansas I've spent a lot of time of the chiefs Arrowheadpride blog and they have been talking about Daniel Holtzcraw for a while. I searched the site for Mr. Holtzclaw and couldn't find anything on him, and the guy deserves much more exposure. He is a very interesting prospect that I wanted to make sure you guys knew about. He is an ILB for the 3-4 defense and most experts have him going undrafted.

Holtzclaw is 6'1/2" and 242 pounds. He did 33 Reps at the EMU proday which would have tied Jason Smith and B.J. Raji had he been invited to the Combine. He actually outdid all other line backers in reps (next highest was 30). He also outran a lot of linebackers in the 40 by running 4.82 ( Faster than Rey Maualuga).

In interviews he has done Holtzclaw has insisted he is a very coachable and hardworking player, and that he overcomes not being a big name by working harder every day.

I think this kid could do well in the NFL and he is defiantly a good pickup for any team, especially if you could pick him up without a draft pick.

Here is a video of his pro day and some links.

Another guy along the same lines...

Cyrus Mulitalo, Sacramento State. Very small school. Good tackler, decent hands, a little undersized. Will go undrafted, but a good back up special teams type player who has good upside. Plus he looks like Troy P. That’s how he caught my attention.

Two of them running around. haha.

all these linebackers

you know, i’m actually getting sick of the steelers drafting so many linebackers
yes i went there
WE have wayyyyyyy too many of them!!
i mean come on, we got practically 5 starters at LB, with Bruce Davis and Patrick Bailey supposedly coming along nicely.
If we pick up this guy, we’re just letting our draft picks go to waste, not mention the new LBs we pick up, because we won’t be using them!!
sorry had to let all that out :D haha

I'm hoping he will go undrafted.

So we could look at him as a special teams guy and maybe his work ethic could get him on the depth chart.

not sure I agree with you

We have 4 starters, Lawrence Timmons who hasn’t has been unable to crack the starting lineup, then we have Keyaron Fox who has started some games at LB but not for Pittsburgh.

Where is the depth?

After those guys we have a lot of young guys that everyone assumes can play but we don’t know.

I see

where you are coming from, but the team knows those guys already. They can play special teams. A new draft pick, we are assuming everything about him. That being said the team can never have enough LB’s. I just hope they don’t use a high pick one one this year.

Maualuga

Its not fair to say he outran him. That time was turned in after Maualuga injured his hamstring. He’s probably much faster then that when healthy.

That said, if the kids around after the draft why not let him scrap with our already crazy LBs. What’s the worst that could happen?

it never got weird enough for me
