Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Potential Sleepers?

i was just watching the college all-star challenge thingy and a two players that we could get in rounds 2-4 shot out at me, here they are:

1: Jordan Norwood, WR, Penn State.

Watching the last event, the sports authority hands challenge, the player had to catch 8 balls thrown at nearly 90 miles per hour by jugs, go through some ropes, catch a curl and a fade.  Norwood won the event followed by Hakeem Nicks.  He was also the only one to catch 8/8 from the jugs, and also did it without flinching again the second time around!  Even Nicks, a mocked first rounder, didnt come close to catching all 8.  Bottom line:  Norwood has amazing hands, is agile, and could be a perfect #3 receiver or a slot guy.

2: Ramses Barden, WR, Cal Poly

this guy is 6'6', has big strong hands, isnt as fast as nate washington, but for a guy 6'6', 237 lbs., he is pretty fast.  Great route running ability, and can really go up to get any ball thrown to him.  Bottom line:  Barden runs great routes, would be spectacular in the red zone, has great size, but can still run fast.  Would be a great target for Ben.  In the first event i watched, it was an obstacle course, there was a small, short trampoline that you had to go under instead of over.  Barden just dove under and slid 5 yards to the other side, very athletic.

I think we could get either Barden, Norwood, or Robiskie in the third or fourth round.

Ramses Barden

is definitely not a sleeper anymore. I hear the Raiders talking about him & maybe picking him up the second round.

This is Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu getting knocked around by the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii yesterday...
Minutes later, Troy caught the ocean going over the middle and smacked it right in the mouth. The ocean fumbled, Troy recovered and ran it into the endzone. The ocean never messed with Troy again.

Norwood as No 3 WR?

Maybe in a couple years but we do have Limas Sweed. I do like the looks of Norwood though.

It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

Do you have a 40 time for him?

HighSchoolSteeler...

im not bashing Sweed, i like him. But if Sweed doesnt work, or Ward, Holmes, or even Sweed dont work, Norwood would be great…amazing hands…

I understand that

and I do like the looks of him, I’m just saying that the Steelers are going to give Sweed a longer leash before putting a rookie in front of him.

I chose Norwood only because Robiskie will be gone by our 2nd pick

NFL Draft Scout:
03/22/09 – Penn State Pro day: WR Jordan Norwood (5-10 7/8, 184 pounds) ran a 4.58 and 4.63 in the 40, had a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.18 short shuttle and a 6.91 three-cone drill. Conducted indoors on FieldTurf. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Brandon Gibson WR Washington State

He’s got some Hines Ward in him….
He might be a 5th round pick.

Who knew?

Norwood

Before I even saw the article I was going to say Norwood was a potential sleeper. However, my definition was different than yours, mine being a player being selected in rounds 4-7 and being a contributer. That’s why I voted for Norwood over Robiskie – I think Robiskie would be gone by the end of the second, while we could get Norwood in a later round and still cover our needs in the earlier rounds. Also, Norwood’s teammate, Deon Butler would be a good pick in the later rounds. Butler has good speed, amazing hands and body control

Jordan Norwood

I love this kid being a Penn State fan. I’ve read articles, as well as witnessed, that Norwood has the best hands of any reciever in the entire draft. I feel that he could be a late round steal for any team. I’ve read that he also could go undrafted because of his size and lackluster speed. I would be happy with drafting any of the 3 Penn State recievers in the 3rd round or later depending on which one it is. Derrick Williams would immediatley improve our return game and Deon Butler was very productive during his career while having to compete for balls thrown his way with the other two guys. Also look what these 3 wide recievers did with Anthony Morelli as their quarterback for 2 years.
