Steelers sign Hines Ward to 4-year contract extension
Great news on draft day.
From ESPN:
"Ward agreed and signed a four-year, $22 million contract extension that will allow him to stay a Steeler the rest of his career, according to a source. Ward was scheduled to be a free agent after the season. He is now signed through 2013."

He deserves to be a Steeler for life
I am so glad to see my favorite player spend his entire career with my favorite team. Next stop: Hall of Fame

Amazing and it probably saves us some room this season on the cap.

YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss……………………………………………………
and the steelers select...
to invest in their veteran leadership and clubhouse consistency, signing hines ward! FTW!!!!!!!!! this is the best news of the day for me. i am a bigtime hines ward fan, and it is clearly a match made in heaven that he finish his very good career in the ’burgh. great job by the steelers who have sometimes had a history of losing good players at the end of their careers. i am very happy on this draft day.

Suh-Weet!
I thought he was going to retire as a Raven, or worse! I am so glad to see this!
Also, all of these signings seem to be signaling that we are aiming at O-line during the draft … which I like.
Restructured?
Great to have Hines locked up. There’s few receivers I enjoy watching more than him.
So that gives us some cap room. Now we can move to the next contract. Max Starks is on the clock.
heath miller is on the clock i believe

Speaks To The Greatness
of the Steelers organization and the Front Office. For all those that call the Rooney’s cheap because so many players leave for free agency this is a stinging rebuke. The FO inked Harrison and now Ward, 2 vital cogs in the tams success. Like Farrior, Troy and Ben the FO knows and we will get our money’s worth.
Like the Ratcliff signing (though not as BIG) this signing also enables the Steelers to take BPA and not reach in any round. Kudos FO. Here We Go Steelers!

well said, 5020
The front office is hitting all the right bumpers, lighting up the roster like a well-played pinball machine.
Great News
I got a real good feeling that we’re gonna get an unexpected player like Maualuga or we just stay where we are or do whatever it takes to get Mack.
It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

Great News? FU***** GREAT NEWS!
jus saw dis on espn
When we hit you, you don't get up. When you hit us, we get up laughing.
Excellence!
Hines will continue to put that boot up Jr. receivers’ backsides for years to come and retire in glory.
Can’t say how good this news is.
Friggin’ awesome.
Going to miss most of draft day news, but this is fantastic. Like to see how it is laid out, but ward was scheduled to make a boatload this year. Instead, I’d bet we spread it out over two years to make some room this coming year but guarantee some cash, and then backload the deal so that if Ward slips in year 4 he can be cut.
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
Nope
Hines Waed will retire before he gets cut. Plus don’t jinx Hines like that.

Hines Ward will retire as a Steelers Legend

Best news of the day!
"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."
Happy!
this is the best news of the day beside the Pens victory. Unless Ziggy comes up with 8-10 sacks next year. in which, i will revert back to today and say that drafting Ziggy Hood was the best news of today. unless Hines catches 80+ for 1000+ and helps us win # 7. then Hines jumps back into 1st place. or the Pens win the cup off of today’s momentum, which might put them back in 1st…. or something. make sense?
