Numbers?
I'll soon be releasing my own version of draft grades complete with analysis, highlights, and even custom jerseys, but I wanted to ask you what you think our rookies will choose.
To make it easy for you can just copy and paste this and fill in the blanks. Obviously don't copy the numbers in bold unless you agree with them.
Ziggy Hood, DE, Missouri, formerly #94: New Number= 96 (I think Roye will retire)
Kraig Urbik, OL, Wisconsin, formerly #63: New Number= Same, 63
Mike Wallace, WR, Ole Miss, formerly #2: New Number= 19
Keenan Lewis, CB, Oregon State, formerly #6: New Number= 46
Joe Burnett, CB, UCF, formerly #19: New Number= 48
Frank Summers, RB/FB, UNLV, formerly #4: New Number= 35
Ra'shon Harris, DE, Oregon, formerly #91: New Number= 71
A.Q. Shipley, C, Penn State, formerly #57: New Number= 77
David Johnson, TE, Arkansas State, formerly #85: New Number= Same, 85

i doubt Urbik would get 63, seeing as Dermontti Dawson wore it and it’s practically retired by the steelers. Just a thought

Aw sweet
It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

Also, Roye didn’t retire, he was so old the Steelers just moved him to an old folks home.

Late at night when I typed this. I can remember thinking I typed Lewis but obviously I was wrong.

Frank Summers =
69. It was funny in middle school, it is funny now. And you know this guy is going to be getting all the women.

Here's what I think...
Funny thing HighSchooler, I like to do the same thing…been doing that since the 1970s and it’s kinda fun to speculate and see how many I get right. So here goes.
Ziggy Hood, DE, Missouri, formerly #94: New Number= 96 (almost a given since that’s the only 90’s # left)
Kraig Urbik, OL, Wisconsin, formerly #63: New Number= 65 (they won’t give him Dirt Dawson’s number…the other possibility is 73)
Mike Wallace, WR, Ole Miss, formerly #2: New Number= 11 (could also be 80, but numbers in the teens are en vogue…I’d say 12 but Bradshaw’s number is essentially retired and the digits 1+1 = 2)
Keenan Wilson, CB, Oregon State, formerly #6: New Number= 33 (I thought I saw him with 36 on but I could be wrong…anyway the Bus’ number would not be given either, so 3+3=6)
Joe Burnett, CB, UCF, formerly #19: New Number= 20 (49 is Sean McHugh’s anyway)
Frank Summers, RB/FB, UNLV, formerly #4: New Number= 44 (35 is Ryan Powdrell’s), but 44 seems perfect for the Tank
Ra’shon Harris, DE, Oregon, formerly #91: New Number= 73 (71 is actually Scott Paxson’s, but Harris could get a 90s number if someone gets cut and he makes team)
A.Q. Shipley, C, Penn State, formerly #57: New Number= 67 (77 is Jeremy Parquet’s new number, so 67 is about all that is left)
David Johnson, TE, Arkansas State, formerly #85: New Number= Same, 85 (agree with this one)

Ah yes I forgot about McHugh.

Numbers by the books
Based on NFL Rule 5, Section 3, Article 3c (see NOTE 1), and such numerals must be by playing position as follows: quarterbacks, punters, and placekickers, 1-19 (and 10-19 for wide receivers if 80-89 are all otherwise assigned); running backs and defensive backs, 20-49; centers, 50-59 (60-79 if 50-59 unavailable); offensive guards and tackles, 60-79; wide receivers and tight ends, 80-89; defensive lineman, 60-79 (90-99 if 60-79 unavailable); and linebackers 50-59 (90-99 if 50-59 unavailable) here are my picks:
Ziggy Hood, DE, Missouri, formerly #94: New Number= 96 (I believe this is confirmed so I won’t take points for this one)
Kraig Urbik, OL, Wisconsin, formerly #63: New Number= 65
Mike Wallace, WR, Ole Miss, formerly #2: New Number= 80
Keenan Wilson, CB, Oregon State, formerly #6: New Number= 20
Joe Burnett, CB, UCF, formerly #19: New Number= 27
Frank Summers, RB/FB, UNLV, formerly #4: New Number= 46 (M46 Patton is a Tank…get it)
Ra’shon Harris, DE, Oregon, formerly #91: New Number= 71
A.Q. Shipley, C, Penn State, formerly #57: New Number= 58
David Johnson, TE, Arkansas State, formerly #85: New Number= Same, 85
I know the rules aren’t actually followed necessarily, but if they were I think this is what we would be looking at.

How can you give Shipley
Lambert’s number. That is blasphemy.

Besides, Lambert is going to kill the equipment manager if the number is given out.

I think the equipment manager
would have to be killer first if he’s getting #58.

This is actually something I look for too.
It’s a good little side game after the draft. I got our first three picks right last year, even though Bruce Davis was pure luck. And no I have no proof. I should have said I got them all right. Here’s what I’m guessing:
Hood: 96 Out on a limb on this one
Urbick: 73
Wallace: 11
Wilson: 27
Burnett: 20
Summers: 40
Harris: 97
Shipley: 67
Johnson: 45 (I’m projecting him as a McHugh type FB) Plus giving him the same number from college is kind of boring.
