What if Josh McDaniels were hired in 2007?
Well, guys! Every Steeler Fan is glad because we chose the right guy! I can describe lots of qualities about him, but really? Did you think this would work out! I remember shouting about this hire! I wanted Russ Grimm badly(Whiz was already hired)! I was very worried about the Steeler future, and Ben came after his worse year and was banged! Well, but ThE ROONEYS know what they do, and got the perfect coach for our blue-collar team!
But if we got J McD ? I do think he would probably do the same thing! New regimes almost ever mean NEW QBs! He would want a guy of his own, Cassell was just a backup, but imagine if he had played the whole 2006 with MOss, Welker...!
1st- Patriots would let the world KNOW, maybe put on the website that the always hated STEELERS Wanted his QB! ( They did that on Cutlers case, showing how classy they are)
2nd- Ben would feel hurt about this situation, who doesnt? Really, all those journalists telling Cutler is a cry baby, bla bla bla? Comparing about his job, but if you were the MAN OF THE YEAR on your company, and somebody intended to hire someone to replace you, you wouldnt be hurt? a Organization should have faith on THE QB, the master piece of a NFL team! Thats what Lovie Smith showed to Grossman! Ya Grossman, Thats what the Giants did,
They protected QBs that ALL THE MEDIA wanted out, or was calling a bust! But Cutler was a probowler! So, who is wrong?? Really, I think J MCD should be fired the next day!
3rd. I think Ben wouldnt be the drama queen, but that would break all the relationship on the locker room! Maybe Ben would be traded, so JMCD could get his own locker room atmosphere
4th! What would be the value of our Great QB? Maybe 3 1st rounders, and a very good OL? and even though we would be losing on this trade! FOR SURE, just like the Broncos, a almost playoff team, losed!
Any thoughts!

I'm not ...
really sure what you’re trying to say. However, I think the situation in Denver involving Cutler is very different than the situation involving BR. There is absolutely no comparison between BR [skills and behavior] and Cutler. Had JMcD replaced Cowher, changing QBs would have never crossed his mind … at least not seriously.
Not so fast my friend
Remember when MT came in. It was right after that horrible 2006 season. Where been had his worst season yet. Now if JMcD could do what he did to cutler, how easy it would have been for him to try the same thing with BB. If you think BB wouldn’t have been upset about it, I think you may be mistaken. BB loves being the man here and lest us not forget his little spat with Ken W. when he left. We probably would have the same problems denver had. How would the rooney’s have handled it? Would they have even let JMcD try to do something like that? If he did it on his own do they make him go and rectify things with BB? I really don’t know. But what I do know is, that they aren’t going to give into the demands of a player. Also, that is probably the reason why JMcD would have never have been hired by the Rooney’s. They have a knack for picking the right guy. I hope denver is a bottom feeder for the next 3 years so that JMcD is out. I really don’t like guys who are too prideful to take a good thing when it’s right in front of their face. Its like the jerk that is about a 5 on the attraction scale and got himself an 8 in a girl but turns her down because he thinks he can get a 10. Quite often he ends up with a 3.
I was thinking about this the other day, but not in the sense that we hired Josh McDaniels in 2007, but I was thinking about a “what-if” we had hired a coach who came in and decided that they wanted to change a lot of things.
When Tomlin was hired the rumors were floating right away that we were switching to a 4-3 in the next few years. This has yet to come true and Tomlin
Ben has had some diva-like moments in his past when he and Whiz had their argument and his injury issues that have seemed to project him like a diva.

The problem with even looking at this is the two teams were in vastly different situations when they changed coaches. The Steelers, while coming off of a down year, were just two years removed from winning a Super Bowl and had a very string core roster. The Broncos have no defence. Steelers FO was also kept intact which may have prevensted someone like Mcdipshit from trading his starting QB away. The reason Shanahan was fired was because he was the FO and Denver wanted a new one.
Love your passion!
And I know there has been a run on ticky tacky tidbits of the use of the english language, but man oh man. How many exclamation points is too many?
You bring up good points and are a steady contributor so I’m not trying to be that guy, but I hope your period button is just broken, and you need a way to end each sentence.
Hope I’m not stepping on any toes. I hope to read more of your stuff, but it (to me at least) can be a bit distracting. I just picture you yelling all of your thoughts into the computer and lose all train of thought on the article I’m reading.
That said, I doubt we’d have any of the problems Denver has had, I don’t think McDaniels would even entertain the thought of trading a young, team first, Superbowl wining QB going into his prime. If Ben was an ego maniac who proclaimed himselt to be better than Terry Bradshaw and then went out and threw almost twenty int’s, that’s another story. And don’t give me that “well if his defense wasn’t soooo bad” bs line either. My god, win something, and come back and see me (Thanks Coach Calhoun, I may dislike your team, but one of the best quotes to use and paraphrase).
The Rooney's, unlike Bowlen
Would of never let it get to this point, if we did have this problem. They would of stepped in at some point and done something to ease tensions, if not resolve the situation. There is a reason our owner is going to represent our country in Ireland, and Pat Bowlen is stuck with a mile high three ring circus of a team right now. But they will find a way out of this, I’m sure.

I wasn’t trying to be “that guy”. Your english is pretty good, and your writing is entertaining. I hope I didn’t offend you, its always great to get another opinion on my team, especially an international one at that.
Thanks for the response, hope my comment wasn’t taken the wrong way. English is my first language and mine isn’t always the best.
Thank you,

Parabens
on your English my friend. I do Capoeira with many native Brazilians who have lived in the States for years and you write better than most of them.

Capoeira?!
Wow that is some crazy stuff! How is it? Difficult? I remember this guy on Tekken who used that style and it was pretty badass!
This is Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu getting knocked around by the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii yesterday...
Minutes later, Troy caught the ocean going over the middle and smacked it right in the mouth. The ocean fumbled, Troy recovered and ran it into the endzone. The ocean never messed with Troy again.
Not at all
You were just honest! I read it again, and was hard to read with all the exclamation. I will keep this exclamations to our 8th ring day.
In the country of soccer , there are lots of STEELERS fans!
Tomlin is a players' coach
And with what McDaniels has already done in Denver, he’s probably not a players’ coach. Unless of course he had Matt Cassel to work with after Cassel’s past season.

Another Take
I don’t think McDaniels handled the situation that poorly. I think Cutler’s a punk and he’s overrated. Without rehashing old threads, he ammassed a “Pro Bowl” season playing cellar dwellars: he played 7 games against the bottom 4 defenses in the AFC and no games against the top 8 defenses in the NFL. Then throw in two games against the bottom 5 NFC defenses. Why wouldn’t you entertain trade offers? Cassel put up impressive stats in against some good teams (although not the Steelers).
I think McDaniels did what any good coach would do: entertain trade offers for a mediocre QB who pouts and fancies himself a superstar. Compare that to Pittsburgh: tough as nails QB who just wins, baby. I doubt he would be stupid enough to think about trading the QB with a SB ring (now two).

Just thinking
Some of the above comments and past comments about Ben’s alleged injuries, his known or reported injuries and his “diva-like” behavior in that regard got me to thinking about a great Pittsburgh professional athlete from the past. That athlete was the Great Roberto Clemente. Roberto’s complaints were legendary and he came under much criticism from the media and some fans. However, in remembering Clemente he did not allow his complaints or maybe attention seeking intefere with his talents on the ball field. Ben isn’t the legend that Clemente became just yet, but IMO he’s on his way. IF he becomes another Roberto….God Bless him! And yes Roberto was the man!
As I have said before I think McDaniels has set the Bronco’s timetable for success way back.
