BTSC Steelers Daily Six Pack- Fire Sale Edition

IX- A few people have linked to this in various threads already on BTSC, but I thought it was humorous enough that it should get some front page love.  Check out Yahoo's Shutdown corner for what Larry Foote says was a shocking difference between Pittsburgh and Detroit.

X- The Pittsburgh Steelers assistant head coach/defensive line coach John Mitchell is set to be inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on May 30th.  Mitchell played college football under legendary Alabama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, and was the first African American to be given All American honors. Mitchell will join former Steelers great John Stallworth who is also a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

XIII- Charlie Batch recently graduated from the NFL's Business program through the Wharton School of Business.  The school is designed to help NFL players get prepared for a life after football, The good news for Batch is even after signing a 1 year contract worth over a million he will get reimbursed for his educational expenses on top of that.  According to the article, "Under the NFL agreement players may be reimbursed for up to $15,000 a year for education expenses."

XIV- Who knew the NBA playoffs was running a look-a-like contest?  Check out this link for twenty pairs of look-a-likes from the NBA playoffs.  Some of them are quite funny.

XL- According to a blog on the Cleveland Plain Dealer the Cleveland Browns have rejected multiple "substantial offers" for quarterback Brady Quinn.  The offers were reportedly worth at least a first round pick for his services.  Shaun Rodgers, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, and Braylon Edwards have all been rumored about this offseason as potential trade bait; it looks like the Browns are having a "fire sale."  I've got their perfect pitch-man.

XLIII- Veteran Tackle John Runyan is still on the market and is rehabbing after a knee injury from last season.  The sporting news lists the Steelers as an ideal landing spot from Runyan.  My guess is he will stay far away from Pittsburgh despite the screaming of some fans to join LeCharles Bentley and Levi Jones on the all washed-up dream offensive line.  For discussions on Runyan I would recommend checking out the folks at Bleeding Green Nation as they were the ones who tipped me off.

Lol, man, I’m surprised the Lions have a different culture than the Steelers. I’ll bet he’s going to get some funny text messages from current Steelers about some of these comments.

Runyan

I was just thinking about him. I’d heard he was out there without a team. He fits the mentality but certainly has lost a step. Would his presence be worth it for the mentoring of the younger lineman? Even with a SB ring, there’s still some growing up that our OLine needs to do. He might be worth a vet minimum.

Uh-oh Toto!

Really?…0-16 and Foote didn’t realize that Detroit “probably” had a negative culture? At what point do you think he figures he made a mistake?

Plus the speakers on my laptop stopped working years ago, and I dont want other co workers to hear the crap I look at all day.

Well I will try to get videos from HULU if I am going to post them with needed audio…I don’t think I have ever seen internet videos with subtitles myself.

If you could post ones viewable outside of the US, that’d be swell too.

It works, it just can’t stream directly. Not sure what hulu’s deal with that is. Youtube appears to work fine. SteelerBrazil has been at this longer than I, maybe he’d know what restrictions are in place for which video sites.

Arrested Development

One of the most underated shows ever. It’s a shame it was canned. NBC ought pick it up and stick it right before/after The Office.

I thought for a minute the reference was to the mid 90's group.

I actually had no idea there was a show called that as well. It does look good.
