BTSC Steelers Daily Six Pack- Couch Fire Edition
IX- You are not anonymous; pouring lighter fluid on a couch in the middle of a post Super Bowl celebration is not smart. Nowadays somebody is filming it or taking pictures, in this case it was local T.V. station WTEA. Police have used the video to charge a volunteer firefighter from outside of Pittsburgh with the crime. Multiple others were charged with minor offenses during the ruckus that ensued after Super Bowl XLIII.

X- At least one player on the Titans regrets the towel stomping incident. Defensive back Cortland Finnegan spoke out yesterday and said the incident was "not what this coach is about, that's not what our team is about. You do it in between the lines ... the rest of it is unacceptable" It's good to see somebody is already scared of meeting up with us on Thursday September 10th.
XIII- Dale Lolley is giving fans an opportunity to pick his brain regarding anything Steelers related. There isn't much news going on before offseason training activities, so Dale is looking to fans to bring up topics for him to answer. It could be a good opportunity for those of us at BTSC who have unanswered questions to get some answers as Dale is usally a straight shooter.
XIV- Mike Tomlin is certainly making the rounds this off season to support other Pittsburgh teams. He has been spotted at just about every Penguins playoff game and yesterday afternoon he was front and center intimidating the St. Louis Cardinals, in the Pirates 7-1 victory. Just goes to show you the Cardinals can't beat Pittsburgh with Mike Tomlin is in the house; somewhere Ken Wisenhunt is curled up in a ball crying after hearing the Cardinals lost again.

XL- The Steelers have agreed to donate 300,000 dollars to the oldest park in Pittsburgh, the Allegany Commons. The total restoration of the project will cost at least 17 million dollars to complete over the next ten years. The Rooney family has also agreed to donate an additional five thousand dollars from their own pockets.
XLIII- Joe "The Unibrow" Flacco answered a few questions with ESPN's James Walker for his blog yesterday. Walker asked Flacco how important it was for the Ravens to beat the Steelers this year, Flacco played it cool but does seem eager to get a shot at the Steelers after three straight loses. Feel free to insert your Raven hating comments below.

Obviously he has a lot of confidence, which I like to believe I do. – Joe Flacco
That is the most uncofident quote about confidence I’ve ever heard.
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
haha
I’d like to think I’m confident, but that’s just what I think.

I believe Big Ben...
Was a pretty good baller acually.
Was an All-League and All-District performer in baseball and basketball…was a team captain in all three sportsFromSteelers.com
I’m guessing he can dunk, but I am guessing.

That might have been before he packed on 75 pounds
I was joking. He probably was a great bball player.
Flacco was supposed to get drafted out of high school for baseball. Insane pitcher.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I actually like Flac Jacket
As a person, as a football player… eh not so much. Throws a mean deep ball though.

Thank ya
I hate Ben as a person as a football player. Love him as a cyclist though
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Really...
Even as a person… no concession from your side, that he at least seems like a cool guy off the field. I guess we can’t all get along after all.

I know several people that had run-ins with Ben in his first couple years, and described him as being a D-bag.
Apparently he has gotten better at dealing with the frenzy but he still isn’t the most social guy. Doesn’t matter when he’s winning the game though.
Sure he can score goals, but can he cook?

Miami's basketball coach Charlie Coles
said Ben would’ve been the best player on his team if the football coach would’ve allowed him to play fwiw
im confident....

Dont hate on Joe
He gets nervous during these interviews and the 6 inch patch of hair above his eyes starts to talk for him.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
He’d like to think he talks for himself, but his unibrow is unsure.
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
Quote from Joe in an earlier interview
Reporter: “So Joe, with all that money, did you go out and buy a big fancy house?”
Joe: “I live in an apartment”

I was looking forward to posting in there.

I didnt even realize the guys name was Steelers Hater. Never even seen him around Baltimore Beatdown either.

I called him out on it...
He came specifically to make those comments. Told him his Black Bird Bretheren would be more up for his brand of humor.

Wasn't going to
Was actually going to state how dumb that post was.

This is the kind of discussions I like...
Where each side has contrasting viewpoints, but can still have a good time poking fun at eachother in between making legit arguements for each side. If only our government… nevermind, I’ll slam the lid on Pandora’s Box before I say too much.

But posts like that are just plain stupid
He had no justification behind his arguments and did it just to be a dickhead. I don’t even get what he means by “overshadowed.”
I have not heard one expert, analyst, coach, player outside of Baltimore say that the Ravens are going to be better then the Steelers.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Most actually think we will be worse
Cause we lost Rex Ryan, Bart Scott and our BACK-UP Strong Safety, Jim Leonhard.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
You also lost your center, who would have looked great in black and gold.
The ravens had some tough FAs to lose, but they seem to be patching their holes pretty well. Their draft was also extremely solid, I’m not really looking forward to the games next year.
Tell me, who is the FA you are most excited about that the ravens signed? Which 1st round picks do you think will contribute this year? Which holes will the ravens still have going into the season?
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
Matt Birk...
Is a REALLY smart, solid player, who isn’t the strongest, but always is in the right place, with the right positioning, and has good fast feet. He is a finnesse center at this point in his career, but is still I think in the top 5 or so centers in the league.
But Big Snack will eat him like a puff pastry twice this year.
by NYSteelersFan4 on May 13, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, a finesse center wouldn’t be your ideal character in the AFC north. Our D is going to have their way with the ravens line just like normal, and theirs is going to stomp all over ours too. I’d love to see a rookie tackle as a starter this year, though I’d probably feel a little bad for Flacco.
I wonder if Mr. Rogers will stay in cleveland. He sure was a beast in the first 2.5 quarters of games last year.
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
No way
You guys will not “have your way” Many people are underestimating our O-Line, but be prepared. I think in 3 years or so you are looking at the best O-Line in the game. 2 first round picks, a pro bowl center, and Gaither who was a supplemental draft pick because he failed out of Maryland, but was considered top 15 talent.
Be prepared guys.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Eh...
Way to change your lil pic three times in one post. Impressive. You’ll be a damn good O-Line, but something tells me we are already prepared.

You have to ask yourself...
When it comes to flair, do you just want the bare minimum? Insert pic of hot young Jennifer Anniston please.

See Brian has 38 pieces of flair
And a terrific style

Apparently...
All is copasetic in Cleveland. The Shaved grizzley bear known as Shaun Rogers had his figuritive cage rattled by the new regime in place. But both sides have found a happy medium. Rogers will still be playing for the Browns and the big guy gets extra pudding in the cafeteria with every lunch. Not a bad deal.

Its very sad
That Cleveless fans would still take Rodgers over Ngata
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Forgot bout Jason Brown
But I will take a proven 29 year old 6 time Pro Bowl center for right now anyday, Matt Birk.
The FA I am most looking forward to seeing play is Dominique Foxworth. He is from the same area of Baltimore that I am from and went to my college. Got drafted the year before I came here. With him and Fabian at CB, they will be probably the fastest group in the league. Both guys ran in the 4.2 range during the combine.
And we only had one first round pick lol. But Michael Oher will contribute right away I think. Willie Anderson is hurt right now and so is Adam Terry. So that allowed Oher to play all of mini camp with the first string and impressed everyone. He also got to play some left tackle since Gaither had migranes, but he will not take Gaither’s spot. Hopefully he will be able to keep Woodley and Gorilla Face off of Joe this year.
If you meant which draft picks I think will contribute, watch out for Paul Kruger man. Freakishly talent hybrid guy who could see alot of time in our 4-3 packages at DE. Explosive player. I think you could also see something special with Lardarius Webb, our 3rd round pick CB out of Nichols State. Great return guy and he all but surely fills our voids at CB this year.
The Ravens still have WR holes. Even though Ozzie says he likes the guys we have, we need explosion. Joe has maybe the strongest arm in the game next to Jamarcus Russel. We need a guy who can take advantage of that. Maybe that guy is on the team now and has not been discovered, but it is rare that stuff like that happens. Ozzie said that “We got to the AFCC game with the WR we have now” But I think that comment is terrible. Sure we got there, but did we get past you guys with these WR? No. Teams like Indi and you guys, if you put 7 up on us quickly, it is going to be nearly impossible to play possession football the rest of the way and come out with a win. We need a guy who can strike fast and compliment our running game. We had the 4th ranked rushing attack last year, you guys had 26th ranked, but you had WR who made plays.
And watch out for Tavares Gooden, 2nd year LB from Miami. He will be filling Bart Scott’s role and people call him baby Ray, without the murder case.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

Tis Tis Tis. You like the Steelers but like the Orioles as well?

I'm from Columbia, MD right outside Baltimore
When I started watching football the Ravens didn’t exist. Hence the disparity in teams. Also a Caps fan. Went to UMD, huge Terps fan.

But I must ask you, why even be an Orioles fan. I like to say I am, but dont state it publicly that much. Most embarrassing team in the MLB in my opinion.
At least you are a fellow terp with me.

I do NOT bandwagon
I have been an Os fan since I was a baby. I loved RIpken, so I will stick with them forever. Same way with Terps basketball. They suck lately, but I still watch.

Ah I see
I just heard they are selling Fe and turning it into a “930 club” type of place. That will be interesting to see.
Anyhow, have they heard anything about Lance Stephenson’s plans?
by John Stephens on May 14, 2009 11:15 AM EDT up reply actions
Wanna hear the crazy part
Steve Francis is actually going to become co-owner of Fe. And they are spending all summer redoing it.
As for Lance, havent heard much. I thought it would have been done by now. No clue what he is waiting for, but I still think he comes here over Kansas.

Off topic but...
Jason Taylor just signed a one year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Perhaps the AFC just got a liitle tougher… perhaps.
Nothing to do with the six pack but I thought I’d throw it in here somewhere.
Any thoughts?
interesting
It looks liked the Pats were interested in Taylor, but perhaps they were just trying to drive up the asking price for miami.
