A Picture Is Worth A Million Words - Who's Ready For Football Season?

No real commentary from me. Just a few photographs that make me yearn for the nights and days of autumn and winter when football returns and we once again are able to cheer on the Steelers. Can't say we're getting 'close', but as June rapidly approaches, the 2009 season should nevertheless be upon us before too long.

After the fold, there a few photographs that didn't make their way into the book, but nevertheless represent some of the themes touched upon in the Steelers publication that has kept me preoccupied and away from the site so frequently this past few weeks. Just about one week left to go.

as of now i'm enjoying the break

but once NBA playoffs are done… it’s nothing but baseball for about three months. i just can’t stand it at all, i wish that basketball would play it’s season in the summer so it wouldn’t be such a dry season.

Sportscenter

From 11am-4pm they re-run the same episode of sportscenter all day and its just baseball clips. I get so tired of it.

SC

I hate SportsCenter live. How many segments could you devote to one story: “Developing Story: Favre is thinking about unretiring”, “SportsCenter Right Now: Favre just thought about playing again”, “Top Stories: Favre latest”, “Breaking News: Favre spotted in Mississippi”. They should go back to the taped format with the good hosts (not Flores and Chris McKendry) and if a big story happens during the day, give us a quick 2 min update at the top of the hour

I agree

All of ESPN deals with Favre now.

Breaking news, Favre had a turkey sandwich today. Could this mean a comeback?

NBA

I was at Staples last night watching our Lakers come back on Denver. Kobe is a BEAST! If they can gut out 7 more wins….Parade! See you on Figueroa.

laker fan here too

man that 4th quarter of last night… i can honestly say it was the most intense i’ve felt watching a game since the super bowl.

LA really needs to win this year, this is the best team we’re gonna have for while and if we can’t win now i doubt we can later. especially considering odom is probly gone next year.

Please tell me

you have a wallpaper sized image of that. One another note, does anyone have a file with a bunch of high quality steeler pics that I can use as transitioning wallpapers? It would definitely help me cope with the offseason blues.

Got a problem with Harrison, why not take it up with him? Oh you know why!

I know its bad when

I start counting down the days till CFL starts (32 days) just to help with the no football blues.

BTW for anyone that really needs a shot of football before August, check out the BC Lions (love em) and the Calgary Stampeeders (hate em) play. They are both hard hitting, defense first, quality football teams.

Offense may sell tickets, but defense wins championships

From a Canadian perspective...

Don’t know if you’ve been asked this before, but I thought I would. What are your thoughts on Stefan Logan? He did the CFL thing, and with you bringing it up thought I’d throw it out there. There was some buzz when he first signed, but with the addition of Wallace via draft, the KR spot has been locked down apparently and Logan is an afterthought. Curious what you think.

And the Pittsburgh Passion. Experts have declared them better than the Ravens, worth checking out. Besides, you can do so for free with a cooler of beer from the McArdle bridge.

Sadly enough,

I count myself as a Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan. Yes, it’s because of the color scheme. Yes, I know they suck.

by Desroko on May 20, 2009 2:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stefan Logan

He sucks, he has no place on the Steelers depth chart and PLEASE GIVE HIM BACK /cry.

No seriously, he is a great outside and open field runner. He has great speed and agility and is a huge threat when he has a bit of space. He played for the BC Lions as the no. 2 back behind (future HOFer) Charles Roberts for the second half of the season and Joe Smith (2007 league leading rb with 1510 yards and 18 td) , and managed to get 889 yards on 122 carrys as well as 477 yards on 52 attempts.

But seriously, the BC Lions have been hamstrung by the NFL over the post season, our best defensive weapon Cam “Earthquake” Wake was stolen by the Dolphins (thus forcing me to watch the ’Fins this season) and the exciting part of our running game is now gone. However if Logan makes the roster and I am able to see him on the field with the Steelers it will dull the pain.

A note on Cam Wake, he and the nose tackle Aaron Hunt had more sacks (34) than half of the league and if you combine the front four they totaled for more sacks (39) than 5 (of 7) other teams. Damn Dolphins I want the ’Quake back!

The worst part of being a CFL fan is watching your team get picked apart in the offseason by the NFL.

Doh!

Hey, I was watching the top 10 motivational coaches on NFL Network, and the chin took number 7. I almost forgot the time the Bengals got a pick 6 and ran it down the Steelers sideline. Cowher throws his arm back like he’s going to level the guy but at the last minute decides not to. I’d love to have a pic of that. Spit flyin’, fist clenched. The dude almost forgot he wasn’t in pads. Love ya Bill!

ya I have seen that episode 10+ times and always stay to watch that part

As special as Tomlin is, I think Steeler fans forget how amazing Cowher could be on the sidelines, especially early in his career.

Most comeback wins

There is a stat out there that Big Ben has the most 4th quarter comebacks in the league since he’s entered in the league….

I’ve been arguing that with some Ben haters but i don’t have the stats to prove it cause i can’t find it anywhere online!!

Can someone find a link so i can shut them up?

I like the Swann still image the best

I’ve seen that catch so many times, but never saw a photo of it. That really captures the beauty/awesomeness of the catch

by WPIALkid22 on May 20, 2009 2:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Desroko

I looked it up. I got nothin’. It shows all of his comebacks, but nowhere in there does it say that he’s had the most since being in the league!
