Steelers Sign Three More Draft Picks, Release Six Players
The Steelers have signed three more draft picks today including third round pick Mike Wallace. The other two draftees signed were sixth round pick Ra'Shon Harris, and seventh round pick A.Q. Shipley.
In conjunction with the signings the Steelers also released six players from the roster "defensive end Jeff Bradley, long-snapper Mark Estermyer, wide receivers Jayson Foster and Cedric Goodman, quarterback Kevin McCabe and fullback Ryan Powdrell" were all released to make room for the signed draft picks.

Hahaha
looks like you got me by 2 minutes.
It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

Mike Wallace
Hopefully we found our kick returner! …Wallace holds the Ole Miss record for single game, season, and career kickoff return yardage…….gotta be better then last years Najeh “Slow-Motion” Davenport returning kicks! He never really tried to make guys miss. He just ran in a straight line until he couldn’t run any more
Inking draft picks early, Steelers & Tomlin all about business in 09
Guys, it’s been awhile since the Steelers have inked most of thier draft picks in a class this early. I think the front office & Tomlin really do mean business this year. Three more rookies to go.
Then watch them ink Starks to a contract extension before he gets married at the end of the month (a nice wedding present for Starks and his wife of about $18M guaranteed). After that, extension offers will be made to Heath, Clark, Snack and Kiesel.
Those Quotes from the article in the tribune make me think they are sending Snack a Message. He needs to show up to camp in shape and prove he is worth them signing next season.

Might be best to let Snack play out this year
I’d like to see the Big Snack play out this year with a chip on his shoulder. Remember when he was called for holding this past year (I think it was against the Patriots), got so pissed off about it that on the next play he threw the center aside and sacked the QB. As he walked off the field he turned to the ref that made that call and said, “Now hold that!”
If he tears it up, you can always franchise him. You’ll have two tags to use if no agreement is reached and DT’s are a lot less than DE’s to franchise. I also expect Keisel to have his best all-around year, too. Nothing like being in the last year of a deal, not having met expectations, and have a no. 1 pick breathing down your neck.
Yea
I think that if Terrence Cody or Suh, from Nebraska fall to us in the draft next yea it’ll be interesting to see how we handle Snack’s contract.

Ah, finally, HSS. Why don’t you tell us about those big hulky NT prospects for next year? From what I’ve read it doesn’t seem like either of them are top-quality going to start in the NFL from day 1 prospects, but they still have another year, so who knows?
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
gotta love those Nosetackles

Suh...
Projected top 5 pick. Some mock’s have Cody going to us in the late first. Even I’m buying into mock’s too early now.

he'd be an easy franchise
I think he is one of the top paid NTs. His franchise tag would likely be what he’d be getting anyway.
:)
Yeah, but what if he doesn’t want to be franchised so just shows up to camp out of shape?

I guessed wrong on that one...
I guessed Estermyer would stay to save Warren’s salary…Now 22 more to be cut plus 8 put on ptactice squad before the season….Here is where I am now:
2009 Steelers Roster (6-19-09)
(3) Quarterbacks: Roethlisberger, Batch, Dixon
(4) Running Backs: Parker, Mendenhall, Moore, Summers
(5) Wide Receivers: Ward, Holmes, Sweed, Wallace, McDonald
(3) Tight Ends: Miller, Spaeth, McHugh
(8) Offensive Line: Starks, Kemoeatu, Hartwig, Urbik, Colon, Essex, Stapleton, Hills
(7) Defensive Line: Smith, Hampton, Keisel, Hoke, Eason, Kirschke, Hood
(9) Linebackers: JHarrison, Timmons, Farrior, Woodley, Frazier, Fox, Bailey, AHarrison, BDavis
(7) Cornerbacks: Taylor, Gay, Townsend, Ratliff, KLewis, Madison, Burnett,
(4) Safeties: Polamalu, Clark, Carter, Mundy
(3) Special Teams: Reed, Sepulveda, Warren
(53) Total Above
(8) Practice Squad: Shipley, Johnson, Capizzi, Legursky, Woods, RLewis, Harris, Paxson
(22) CUT: Baker, Black, Bryant, Czech, Clement, CDavis, Foote, RFoster, Grisham, Korte, Logan, McLendon, Nance, Parquet, Redman, Reffett, Reilly, Richardson, Schantz, Sherrod, Vincent, Williams
Thoughtful discussion with a sense of history
I agree with your 53 man
but not so sure about the PS. 2 centers? I’d replace Legursky with a WR. I also see Capizzi being supplanted by another tackle. Foster, maybe?
Maryrose, I think
Reilly might be a PS player with a decent camp.
My heros have always been Steelers...
+1
