BTSC Steelers Daily Six Pack- David Johnson Signed Edition
IX- Awesome interview with Mike Tomlin from the NFL Network. More solid quotes from the master of being awesome.
X-The Steelers have signed their other Seventh round draft pick, David Johnson a Tight end from Arkansas State. This leaves only two draft picks left for the Steelers to sign; third round pick Kraig Urbik and first round pick Ziggy Hood.
XIII-One of the most entertaining Steelers blogs on the internet just got a face lift. Make sure you check out the new look One for the Other Thumb and particularly todays' segment of Meeting People is Easy. For some odd reason he allows me to participate in the mayham every once in a while.
XIV-Happy Fathers' Day to all the dad's on BTSC. Here's an article with Mike Tomlin from the Steelers official website where he spoke in front of 600 people at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex about the importance of family and fatherhood to support the All Pro Dad Father & Kids Experience.
XL-A little fun for a friday that is totally non Steelers related, but hilarious all the same. If you're not familiar with Florida Panthers' radio announcer Randy Mollers' amazing pop-culture infused calls you are in for a treat. Video below of one compilation of some of his best and here's a link to another batch of his calls.
XLIII-Check out Zak Woods' awesome fanshot for video of this and check out Pittsburgh Sports and Mini Ponnies for a picture of a Steelers fan in the middle of a protest in Iran. Steeler

I sincerely hope DJ Jazzy Jeff sticks as a blocking tight end, because that will mean McHugh can fulfill his role as H-back. Goodbye Davis. Very doubtful to happen this year though, oh well.

If Johnson sticks and Summers sticks as well, I think McHugh stays on as 3rd TE and its bye bye Spaeth AND Davis.

Don’t think anyone is around that can kick spaeth off the roster at this point. Once we need to lock up Spaeth to a contract, we’ll see…but right now he is good enough to pay the salary he is owed.

I agree, but .. .. ..
Spaeth is a liability in pass protection and, while he does catch the ball well, he falls to the ground on contact. I don’t recall throwing much to McHugh last year but, if he catches reasonably well AND can block, then Spaeth is expendable. Not sure what his salary is but it has to be higher than McHugh’s and the savings, while possibly nominal, may help to sign guys we want to keep like Heath.
All very hypothetical since we know nothing of Johnson and Summers in pads.

Exactly…Johnson isn’t going to come in and kick two starters to the curb. He’ll be lucky to kick one. Spaeth’s blocking on the line blows, but McHugh can’t really do it either. McHugh can sort of play fullback, he’s more of an H-back. He just doesn’t do anything particularly well, he’s just OK at everything he does, and he does a lot.
Spaeth has pretty good hands, 0 YAC, little blocking ability. He can catch better than McHugh, and that will keep him his job until we have someone who is either great at catching, or good at catching and blocking.

Arians will never sign off on having two blocking tight-ends.

Good call
Can’t wait to see the camp battles start shaking out. It will be tough for a 7th rounder to make a SB squad. Perhaps I’m only dreaming of a replacement for Spaeth.

Can't wait for football?
Read this. Some people don’t know when to stop. When’s the season start again?

I like his explanation...
that he was mad steelers fans were in his stadium waving their towels. Shouldn’t he be mad at his own fans for either not purchasing those seats or selling them?

You beat me to that
Think Tomlin’s not going to remind them of this?
Before that game, Big Snack will see a hypnotist who convinces him that Kerry Collins, Johnson and Lendale White are all steaks and that Casey hasn’t eaten since last year’s Thanksgiving. Game OVER!!!!!

Randy Moller audio
That was great stuff. I only got about 80 or 90% of them and I don’t care, he made me laugh out loud.
