Titans' Bulluck has no plans to stomp Terrible Towel again

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d810ee653&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Just read this article on NFL.com and wanted to share. Most of us remember Bulluck from the Titans stomping on the towel, and how we can't wait to meet him and his team in the opening week.... Well, it looks like he knows what is coming and clearly regrets doing what he did.

He started to answer, then turned around to his locker and pulled out a Terrible Towel from the Steelers' Super Bowl with a note sent to him dated Feb. 16. The note read: "On behalf of Steelers Nation, we would like to present you with our new Terrible Towel. Hang this up in your locker room. Sincerely, the Black and Gold P.S.: I hope you enjoyed the Super Bowl."

Got a problem with Harrison, why not take it up with him? Oh you know why!

i loved this story too, but i think you're misinterpreting what it said

although he said he wouldnt stomp terrible towels WHEN they WIN in pittsburgh cuz it’d be disrepectful. but he did said if (i probably should just say when) steelers fans come to tennessee and they wave terrible towels, he’ll stomp them again because its their place. he also said he looks forward to playing in pittsburgh and being a marked man

Saw this too

Looks like again and again that fat ass Lendale White just goes looking for trouble. He talks a big game for being the number 2 back, and the compliment to an almost equally cocky Chris Johnson re-nicknamed himself “A Coaches Dream”.

It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

Tennessee got lucky last year. they had a weak schedule, an old QB who played better than he should have, Albert Haynesworth, and a rookie RB that played better than he should have.

i don’t see all this happening two years in a row.

Kerry Collins will implode at some point, Haynesworth is gone, Chris Johnson is still good but is still young/unproven.

the titans beat us in an almost meaningless game last year and got incredibly cocky.

Generally,

a team that loses its best player doesn’t do too hot afterwards. Two seasons ago, their D fell off a cliff when Haynesworth was injured. Collins, White, and Johnson are afterthoughts to me – but without that fat bastard in the middle, that defense doesn’t scare anyone.

they kicked the steelers asses without that “fat bastard”

And I'll lay any amount of money that it doesn't happen again.

Chance is a factor, especially in turnovers. If you think that game was the mark of a superior team, I think you’re mistaken. They’re not better than the Steelers, anymore than the Broncos or Jets were in 2007.

while I don’t disagree that the steelers of 08 were better than the Titans of 08 you are foolish to think that the Jets and Broncos of 07 were as good as the Titans of 08.

i wonder, did the Steelers really want to win that game?

the Steelers already won the division title, and although they won’t admit it, some Steelers had to be thinking about staying healthy for the playoffs.

‘if we win, great, if we lose, we’re still #2 in the AFC’, i bet some of them were thinking, although i’m only guessing.

by weegiethompson on Jun 24, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lets admit it. we all wanted the game and the titans flat out beat us

to say the steelers didn’t want a game that woulda locked up the #1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs is kinda absurd (we would have still had to beat the browns led by their FOURTH string qb, but our 2nd string could’ve done that). we had another week after that in a game that didnt really matter and a lot of players that were injured sat that game. and then they had a bye week. taking off 4 weeks before the start of the playoffs is far too much time for football.

oops

i forgot to say, there was no way we were looking forward to going into tennessee to play the titans in the afc championship game if it came to that. we’d preferred them coming to heinz field

Indeed, and it was very likely it was going to come to that.

In the end, things worked out the best as Baltimore and the Titans destroyed each other. Whichever team was left was easy to mop up. I’m glad it was the ravens because we had done it twice before, and I haven’t heard a single ravens fan use injuries as an excuse. The titans would have.

I refuse to believe that the steelers would throw a game. There are too many athletes and competitors on the team. Now, I could see a 1-13 team throw its last two just to improve its draft position.

Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.

man...

When L. White was drafted, I was looking forward to watching him overproduce…Yards, not stupid remarks. Haven’t seen the yards really yet, but his mouth sure is an overachiever. Bulluck, sure, he disrespected the Towel, but it was in his house. He said he won’t do it in our house. Then that tubby bitch White said he’s gonna stomp a Towel in OUR house! I say target White. Every play he’s on the field, hit him like he stole your bike! Make it so he doesn’t even want to LOOK at another Towel.

Now, I’m not saying put him out, I’m just sayin’ make him sorry he wrote that check, and make his ass cash it.

Thank you drive through...

Steelers will be head hunting come September 10th

No doubt the Steelers are going to be out to shut them up with a hard hitting victory. Remember in 2006 when Cinci came to town at the end of the regular season and beat us for the division? Housh was in the tunnel wiping his cleats with the towel after the game. We saw them again in the first round and the rest is history (Kimo Van Ol hoffen’s borderline hit on Carson’s knee). I can recall some interviews after the game with Peezy and those guys saying how the clip of Houshmazilly totally motivated every guy in that locker room. I do not see any difference this time around. It is going to be a PHYSICAL opener!

P.S. Totally off topic but just have to throw it in. American soccer is winning a few games in some tournament. I got a chuckle out of seeing that on Sportscenter.

Steelers are a lock on Sept.10

We haven’t lost a season opener in years and since the NFL decided to have the Super Bowl winner open up the season on Thursday night football, the host has never lost that game. You add in the whole Terrible Towel fiasco, no Haynesworth and no more D coordinator, i’m gonna have quite a bit of $$$ on that game.

The Steelers are currently fav’s by 5. I can easily see them winning by more than a touchdown but, just to be safe, i’ll take them straight up.

Best Cross-Divisional Rivalries in the NFL

Yeah it sorta made me just a little mad when Bulluck stomped on that towel, but more than that I felt immediately that he was being a fool for doing it.
Not only will he incur the wrath of the Football Gods for years to come (the streets in Heaven ARE paved in Black and Gold you know… funny so are the streets in America!!! how bout that!) … but back to the subject at hand…

He is only fueling all of Pittsburgh with a raging desire to punish the Titans for their imbecilic and juvenile display. Thanks to the Powers That Be we are going to get that chance very very soon! Woo hoo!!

All of the above said, The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans have what I would call the strongest and most alive cross-divisional rivalry in the NFL. Can you really name another rivalry that is bigger? Although the Steelers rivalry with New England is huge, I still put that second to our rivalry with the Titans, for a number of reasons, one being that the Titans are REALLY the Oilers in disguise! Second, and this goes with the first, the rivalry has lasted longer.

Mind you… I could just as easily say that the two rivalries are just as strong as one another. It’s a close call for sure.

So, that considered, I can see a “good” side to actions like Bulluck’s (and whoever sent him that letter and towel.) And that is this: Rivalries are right in the heart and soul of what makes this game so powerful and compelling – if his actions fuel that rivalry… more’s the better! Bring it!

BTW, can ANYONE name a cross-divisional (and/or cross-conference) rivalry that compares to the Steelers rivalries with the Patriots and the Titans???
