BTSC Steelers Daily Six Pack-Flush It Down Edition

IX-Dan Rooney is one step closer to becoming the United States' Ambassador to Ireland.  Yesterday Rooney sat before a meeting on the Senate Foreign Relations committee, and from reports it appears that the Senators who chose to appear were much more interested in praising Rooney and the Steelers organization than actually asking him anything about his political views or plans for the upcoming appointment.  That's Washington for ya.

X-In 2007 the Pittsburgh Steelers signed horrible, horrible, talentless, waste of space, Sean Mahan to a lucrative five year contract.  After losing his starting spot to Justin Hartwig during the 2008 offseason he was traded back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Mahan is now the back-up center for the Bucs and was due to make three million dollars this season and be the Buc's highest paid lineman.  That was until they forced him to restructure his contract on Wednesday.  Tampa Bay is an estimated 30 million dollars under the salary cap right now, and continues to be in some sort of contest to have the lowest payroll in the NFL.

XIII-Unfortunately the Texas Longhorns lost their bid for college World Series champions last night to the LSU Tigers.  In watching the college World Series this year I have decided the most underrated athlete of all time is Dave Winfield.  Winfield is one of two athletes to be drafted by three professional sports teams.  He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, the San Diego Padres, and the Minnesota Vikings (despite never playing college football).  He also won the college World Series MVP, as a Pitcher.  Winfield was quite productive all the way up until his last season in the majors at an astounding 44 years old.  Who is your most underrated athlete?

Star-divide

XIV-A lot of folks have been creating "City of Champions"  t-shirts, hats, and other random apparel with varying degrees of success.  Everybody is out to make a buck off the Steelers and Penguins both winning the ultimate prize in the same season, and frankly who can blame them?  Now you can own the "official" version from Reebok showing off the "Steel City Champions."  It's one of the better shirt designs on the topic I have seen.

XL-TheScore.com have ranked the top ten Quarterbacks, Running Backs, and Wide Receivers in the NFL.  The Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons were the only two teams to have players ranked either in the top ten or in the honorable mention category in all three instances.

XLIII-No commentary at all needed by me, thanks ShutDown Corner for bringing this to my attention.

Dan Rooney is more of a professional than Congress.

No surprises here. Yawn. Ocho-Cinco might be more professional than most of Congress.

The best QB's, RB's, WR's...

probably the worst breakdown I’ve ever read. That article wasted 5 minutes of my life that I’d love to have back.

Why should I change my name? He's the one that sucks!

Braylon Edwards is better than Hines Ward?

WTF? Braylon Edwards isn’t even better than Limas Sweed.

Dave Logan, I had never heard of him.

Perhaps MR, or someone else has some info?

Since Winfield was the only player to ever get traded for a dinner, I’d say he qualifies as most underrated.
