Steelers Sign Kraig Urbik
Urbik signed a 3 year deal which the details have not yet emerged.
"I love him," said offensive coordinator Bruce Arians of Urbik during the draft. "Big, tough, nasty type of guy who has position flexibility. This kid understands football."

My prediction
“Big Nasty” Urbik beats out Stapleton as the opening day starter.
8 down 1 to go. How cool would it be if the FO could wrap up all the contract signing before this weekend?!?! That might be some kinda new record for the club if it happens. Realistically though, until we start hearing that more 1st rounders have signed, Zigford’s signing will be held up.

Not gonna happen; they always wait to find out what the guys around their pick get in terms of contracts.

Exactly
I know of only 2 1st rounders that have signed as of this moment, Sanchez and Stafford. Was thinking it would be a great accomplishment if they could. I read somewhere this morning that they are talking to Clark’s people at the moment. Two year deal for him you think?

Dunno, I would think three years, but not sure. There really isn’t a large track record for Steelers signing players like him. (Free Agents signings that are going to be 30+).
Two years might be more likely with some of the younger guys they have that look to compete at safety.

Add two years to remaining 1 year for total of three? He’d be 33 – 34 by then.

Two years is hardly any. It’s not like Clark is not exactly over the hill. If they offer him a 2-year deal I expect he would refuse it. Clark can make money elsewhere with a longer term deal.

Er, that is to say, clark is still 30.

Clark, Miller, J. Reed signings before training camp
At least that is what I’m hoping for. I think Ziggy inks before camp as well. An impressive offseason so far. Let’s hope Tomlin gets extended this offseason to.

Good to hear we're in good shape...
signing these guys. One more to go.
Now, onto something pressing. We talked alot about the Pen’s run to the cup, how bout my Islanders’ picking up a poor man’s poor man’s Sydney Crosby in John Tavares? Yeah, I know, no one else cares, and I don’t blame any of you.
Let’s get the Zig-man signed sooner than later. I can feel the season creeping up on us. I can’t wait.

The islanders will be a very good team someday. They have been saying that for years, though.

Except that implies the pirates will be a very good team someday, which I don’t believe.

I'm pretty sure The Browns' say the same thing..
Soooo… yeah. I am convinced we’re on the way up. Going down would be pretty difficult, but I’m hoping this is a step in the right direction.
I’ll give you John Tavares, any two other players on the team and three “magic” beans for Syd the kid… Deal?

How about we trade for Bill guerin? Oh wait.

Had to go there...
Touche. Nothing ground my gears like watching Bill Guerin raise that cup after taking a deal from the Islanders’ and never skating hard one time for them. I didn’t expect Guerin circa ‘99-’04, but a semblence of his former self, that I’d of at least accepted as age diminishing his skill. BUM!
Sports karma for my our Steelers winning the whole damn thing. I’ll take it and smile. Sorry hockey fans, I’ll take a Lombardi (or six) over the cup anyday.

Tomlin in Year 3 of 4-year deal
In the past, the Rooneys have extended Cowher when he had two years left on his contract. Hate to see Tomlin going into the last year of his deal here, especially with owners around that don’t mind paying coaches like players.
I doubt Tomlin would want all the media attention that he would receive if the Steelers let him reach the last year of his deal before signing him to a new one. They need to do it this offseason because the price is only going up when he wins that second one this season.

Ink the man already...
Don’t let this chance slip away. I’ve got faith in the Rooney’s all day, but let’s not take any chances at all.

There is absolutely not a single solitary chance in hell that Tomlin is not the steelers coach for a very long time.

Man it would be awesome
if Urbik gets major play on the line this season. That would shore up the O-Line and we can be on our stairway to seven.
Anyone been hearing about our return game yet? Anyone standing out?
