I don't know about #8

that’s stealing thunder of the Lord.

But I guess if you think of Sam L. Jackson taking words from the Bible and delivering them with menace then Tomlin’s line works too.

yeah, i get chills when I hear Samuel Jackson:

“..And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger…”

by SteelersVT on Jun 5, 2009 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually

Jackson’s line in Pulp fiction is not in the bible. It was made up.

Sure he can score goals, but can he cook?

Probably should have been though

It’d be a whole different religion if Quentin wrote the Bible. Definitely a lot more ‘F bombs’ in there.

Yeah, just the final line is from that verse.

charity standing orders

by BadMaafala on Jun 5, 2009 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

It was a a hodge-podge of verses from the Bible

and not necessarily word for word from the KJV either.

LOL

Stealing thunder of the lord? Oh man that is hilarious.

Yeah, this is a tough one....

But, I had to go with #9. That line is so good, and applicable to many facets of life.

#8 is a poor reference

Maybe the best thinking back in the iron age when it was written. Makes no sense to me at all. Maybe back then people were like “Oh yeah, you want to sharpen that Iron what you need is some other Iron”

we’re so far beyond this.

If this wasn’t in a holy book it would get no respect what-so-ever. The people of Pittsburgh have moved beyond iron. We need analogies of Steel!

by Steely McSmash on Jun 5, 2009 12:26 PM EDT reply actions

hmmm

that’s an odd response.

I'll drink your Milkshake, I'll drink it up!

by Frank Mineo (DYMS) on Jun 5, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions

But the analogies don’t work with steel, but I’ll try some.

It takes some really nasty sludge to make Steel. (about going to Cleveland?)

If the fire isn’t hot enough, you can’t make steel. (This doesn’t have to fit, just confuse the reporters)

Steel doesn’t really sharpen well, when it goes dull you just buy some new knives. (when players start to go down hill)

If you want a really appropriate Pittsburgh analogy it would have to involve banking or college metaphors.

Not everyone gets into Pitt, it helps if you’re from out of State.

Have you seen the Robots down at CMU, they can hit a PAT.

I know we struggle in the red zone, that’s why we’re cutting our overhead to get into the black.

Pitt students burn couches for Super Bowls, not for rushing titles. Oh wait, actually they will burn couches for rushing titles.

I think those would work.

Sure he can score goals, but can he cook?

all this means is...

going against great teams in the regular season prepares us that much more for the post-season. We know what to expect out of those teams

… at least thats how i see it!

by steelersfan86 on Jun 5, 2009 5:07 PM EDT up reply actions

#8 is my favorite of them all probably

just shows so much about tomlin. Very wise guy…

TOMLIN = Well Read

How does He come up with all these great qoutes. I wonder if He visits this web site to see which Tomlinism wins.
