I will be VERY surprised if #2 doesn’t completely blow this round out of the water, and personally think it is the favorite to win the whole thing.

- gets severe bonus points because it actively dealt with a serious problem on the steelers at a critical point for them. A lot of his quotes are inspirational, but this one was an example of using words as a weapon. It’s well-crafted too.
Hey MaryRose, can you lay down some odds for the seeds?
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.
I'm not the one to lay odds
Obviously my seeding is upside down. I thought #1 was the best since it wasn’t a dust-off of an old saying and it hit the very heart of Steeler nation, which is us. Looks like #1 is trailing #12, which almost didn’t get in the tournament and is now leading to win its second consecutive road win.
Thoughtful discussion with a sense of history
Shake, I think you're right....
- was one of Tomlin’s finest moments. He was faced with a star running back who was frustrated, acting out, and becoming a distraction.
The indirect smackdown was brilliant. He turned the overall goal and the team’s proud history against Willie, yet he did so in a way that put everybody’s eyes back on the prize: Trophy Number Six.
And by then making FWP a captain for that Sunday’s game, he kept Parker very much in the fold. He defused a potential crisis and moved his team forward. This is a prime example of how Coach Tomlin is a leader of men.
got to love what he said just before #2, which was something like: Parker’s comments “misinterpreted as uninformed or selfish, of which he is neither.”
stark comparison to the seahawks
and shaun alexander falling 1 yard short of the rushing title and saying of Holmgren “stabbing me in the back”, then the seahawks going out and almost having a goal in mind of getting shaun yards and touchdowns the next year
Great point Homer J.
Tomlin defused a situation that could have disrupted the team because players were starting to take shots at Bruce Arians. I loved the way he pretty much said I’ll deal with the coaches and you just play. That showed me the Steelers had a Super Bowl-quality head coach before they took home the hardware.
I will be glad to see the #10 seed go away
It’s the least original comment Tomlin has ever made. It’s as common as a player saying he’s going to give 110%. The line was used in good sense, but I don’t see how it can even be a “Tomlinism”.
agreed, it was a good statement, but certainly not original or uncharacteristic of something that would pop out of any one of the mouths of the other 31 coaches in the NFL.

Identical to #12
The big windshield and small rear-view mirror, cripes, I’ved used that, and now it’s in the semifinals. I’m still in shock that it beat Tomlin talking from the heart about Steeler Nation. Oh well, to each his own.
Thoughtful discussion with a sense of history
for me the concept of why I like the big windshield and small rear-view mirror quote was because of the timing. He took the night of the game to celebrate and from then on he had moved on. He sent a message clear as day that the 2009 steelers wouldn’t rest of the laurels of the 2008 steelers.
