Beautiful in my opionion. Looks like the Steelers and the NFL have outdone themselves this time. Probably my new favorite. 6 Diamonds for 6 wins, the steeler emblem w/approriate gold and black, and the respective colors for the logo stars....Real flashy but in a good way... Thoughts?
"Six round, brilliant cut diamonds surround the Steelers logo to draw the eye to the ring crest, with each gem signifying a Super Bowl victory. The Steelers logo is formed with yellow, red and blue stones in the shape of hypocycloids sitting atop a football-shaped design created with 32 round diamonds. Seven diamonds at each tip of the football recognize the team’s seven AFC Championships and when combined, the 14 diamonds signify the number of Division titles in Steelers history."
"The Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XLIII ring weighs 104 grams (approximately 3.7 ounces) and incorporates 63 round, brilliant cut diamonds totaling 3.61 carats."

I was wondering how they would represent the six Super Bowls. Just too many to keep trying to put Lombardi trophies up there. I like it.

Good point, when I made this they hadn't updated that part yet
It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

BLING BLING
Love how everything on the ring represents something different and the ring as a whole represents… success!

It's great, but...
I love the ring. Obviously. But did you notice they left room at the top and bottom of the design for two more Superbowls?

You think Tomlin is done? He was thinking about 44 before he even got the trophy.

Worth the Wait
This ring, like the victory it symbolizes, was worth the wait.
Of course, I’m looking forward to seeing ring #7 :)

Hypocycloids.
Don't worry about the haters. Haters only hate.

My favorite part of the ring by far. Representing the colors with gems and cutting the ’cycloids is just stunning.

Underwhelmed
Too busy. Granted, with 6, count ’em 6, superbowls, the ring has to be somewhat busy… but still.
I do like the sides of the ring, especially the Lombardis.
Then again, as a Cowboys fan, I’m mostly just jealous.
by HutHut on Jun 10, 2009 1:27 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yea
your jealous because that is a thing of beauty, have you seen our other five rings? they aren’t as busy this one is different from the mode, u dont want the busy then go back to the 70s lol today is all about bling bling!!! :)

what we can't see in the pictures
is how that huge pile of diamonds reflects light. The thing is probably like a flashlight.

I suppose a ring has the number and name of the owner, or Does all have Roethlisberger on them?
thanks, for your reply. In some way he deserves it, but I don“t think so, be BB way.
And certainlly it has enogh room for another 4 lasts picks. And on the plate maybe another 6.
O sales tickets,...and let D rest a little, and D Win Championships.

Hopefully, but I’ll protest the diamonds b/c I’m a “crazy” anti-oppressionist.

Yea The Whole Blood Diamond thing is messed up
And I regret that, and I hope that teams prefer to use alternate stones in the future but just because these rocks are diamonds doesn’t mean that they’re from Sierra Leone.

maybe they are "good"
diamonds and they made sure they could track their history??
I mean, maybe, right??
I’m gonna hope for the best…I too, am totally against the blood diamond thing. I know some jewelers can prove the origin…though, you know, I’m sure there is fraud, like anything. I hope for the best.
Personally, I don’t wear diamonds (I know, probably the ONLY woman who does not, but I’m just not that into it).

No offense but it makes no difference
There is absolutely no reason to refuse to purchase a particular good simply because some of them may have baggage. If that is the case we should stop using Oil because people fight over some of that and therefore some of our oil is tainted.
Now I respect your right to do whatever but I simply think you should not buy something unless you genuinely dont like it. Not just to make a point.
Its kinda like vegans who refuse to eat meat just because, its not going to make a difference.
And again if you feel a certain way by all means stick to being yourself and you have my respect, just felt like stating my opinion on this part of the thread.

Rather talk about Rings than Eric Mangenie any day.
Yes I know that’s not how you spell it.

Lions and Wings fan here
that ring is beautiful! Hope I can see a Lions version of it in my lifetime. You guys are lucky football fans. Good luck to the Steelers except when they play the Lions.

People are hating but....
Everybody is saying, oh how gaudy and outrageous.
The thing is, a Super Bowl ring is full of brilliant metaphors, fabulous symbolism, and majestic wonder. And the fact of the matter is, each one is supposed to tell the story of the team from start to finish.
It just so happens we have a whole lot more to tell than other teams. Detroits first ring should be very small. It would have nothing to say. We however HAVE 5 other bowls and many other decorations, and that is why our ring must be the biggest.

Haters are out in force
On the NFL.com discussion about the rings.
Things like “Its too big”, “looks stupid”, “gaudy and outrageous”
What do you want it to look like? An engagement or wedding ring? Like those that appear in Jewellery stores and on peoples fingers every day?
Its a Superbowl ring! It doesnt happen everyday! Some people go their entire lives without seeing one let alone having one. The size and shine of it represent how big of a success it is

no other fans understand the thrill of 6 SuperBowls
so how could they understand what the ring must represent? I mean, there has to be at least 6 big ass rocks to start off with before you even start getting fancy. The Steeler’s first ring had one diamond. Period. Now this one has 63 diamonds.

makes sense to me
Thats what I’m saying. Everybody else is confused but the simple fact of the matter is we have a lot more history to brag about.
Detroit’s ring, were they to win one, would just be carved out of a lump of coal with a tiny diamond in the middle.
by Mechem on Jun 13, 2009 12:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The only thing I would've done differently
Is tone down the rings in the middle. I really like the outsides and sides of the ring. What I would’ve done though is kept the hypocycloids the same but instead of all those diamonds around it I would’ve just kept that silverish and gold metal behind it there, then just keep the 6 diamonds on the front.
It's true what they say...Even the NFL's Big Wigs hate the Steelers. On the plus side, I can now tell my future grand kids about Hines Ward and how the NFL made rules because of him. Roger Goodell, you make me sick.

really what I envisioned was just six huge rocks
like the 79 one which was just four big stones on top. But 63 of them says the same thing.
