So this is what the expected player rankings will be this year. Remember, the player ranking system has been overhauled this year, so don't be surprised by some ower than expected numbers for our favorite guys. Thoughts?

Supposed to be lower than expected, not ower. My bad.

Sweed gets a notable drop.

Limas Sweed’s overall was 80 in 09, now its 64. Hehe.. Also a 54 in awareness..

And look at Troy P. with the 99 =)

I can’t wait for this game to come out. Do you play online, NYSteelersFan4?

p.s.
I deleted that questionable fanpost. Sorry about that.

No harm no foul man...

Like I said, it wasn’t you personally, and I meant that.
I play a little bit, but since I moved recently, I have yet to get my live account going. I see you’re the catalyst of many a Madden discussion on here. The rankings this year are totally different. It’s like night and day. But what they did makes total sense. Make it more odvious the difference between average, good and great players. Hopefully I’ll get my account going soon. I was SteeleFist58, and hopefully can continue with that sign in.
Another thing they did was make it possible to get an online franchise going. I think we could probably organize a little something here once we figure the new shtuff out.
What’s really sad is that they have Fat Willie Colon as our third best linemen. God help Ben if that’s at all accurate.

You don’t agree with FWC at 3rd? I think that’s about right…that doesn’t make it any less sad.

The only managing Ben does is that he manages to win games. - chewiesteeler

Well...

I guess it’s okay, but I was hoping after the new contract we handed out to Kemo, maybe his ratings would improve, and make him our third best. At least rank him above Fat Willie. Stapleton is understandably lower. Urbick looks good, comparably. I guess it’s hard to relate the numbers, with the new rankings.
Can’t we just use Madden rankings when discussing all players ability? Even outside of football stuff. It dawned on me how much easier life would be with a tangible number on how good someone is at something.
I consider myself a 65 overall poster. I’ve got good upside, but can come across like a real icehole from time to time. I can bring decent info to the table here and there. But I’m lacking in the consistency department. My awareness rating needs a boost.

Ha! I’m thinking maryrose is our 99 poster.

If I could bring to the table half of what MR does, I wouldn’t be satisfied, I’d be exstatic.

Online League would be cool

Me and 2005Steelers4life were trying to get an online league going from this site. A lot of gamertags were listed, but no one ever plays.

I used to player Madden non stop, but now UFC 2009 is my game of choice. Which I highly recommend.

Eh...

Not too big on ultimate fighting. I really just don’t get it. It to me is the equivelent of a human cock fight, minus the razor sharp spurs for the killing and what not.
More of a boxing guy myself, and I know I’m in a shrinking minority, but so be it. Fight Night Round Four is great. It’s about time the boxing world “took one on the chin” to use a horrible, but well timed pun, and included Iron Mike in his prime. I bet that alone increased sales 20% or so.

I'm more of a boxing fan too.

But UFC 2009 the game is great. I was actually waiting on FNR4 for a LONG time, but then UFC 2009 came out and I still haven’t bought fight night.
Did you see the past weekend HBO WCB? Amazing fight.

I wish man...

No HBO at my place. We’re switching to DirecTV, I’ll have it then. I miss those fights on both HBO and Showtime, it;s a shame that the sport has pretty much aided in it’s own demise, by rarely putting any decent fights on cable much less broadcast. And there’s talk the NFL may put some games on PPV, too. God I hope not. Anything to make an extra buck I guess, but at what cost?
The last fight I saw was Pacquio/ Hatton. Paid about $10 a minute for that one. It hurt me more than Hatton, I think. Hahaha.

LOL

I feel you on that Hatton fight. I had high hopes for him. I watched him fall to Mayweather and Pacquiao ;(

no love for Will Gay

He’s a 63 overall. Townsend is 82, Ike 86, and Tyrone Carter is 67. Does anyone think carter is a better db than Gay? They even ranked Burnett higher than Gay. BMac, whom Gay replaced w/o a drop in performance, and an 87. Didn’t Football Outsiders say Gay was the best in the league in terms of yards per attempt? This seems really off to me.

by phxsteeler on Jul 2, 2009 1:05 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah...

I hear you. It is a really low rating. But in fairness, Gay has yet to replace BMac without losing a step. They haven’t put pads on since we lost McFadden yet. It’s hard to say we replaced him without losing a step, he hasn’t even taken a step yet. McFadden is a 78 this year, by the way.

Whoops, I guess I inverted that number.

Clark better get a 100 for hit power

lol

@ Woodley not being atleast a 90

by Johnny_S on Jul 7, 2009 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I remember looking at the ratings

My biggest complaint was W. Gay….i mean, 63 overall for a starter on the #1 D. Makes me wonder if EA watched anything other than the Super Bowl last year.

Timmons speed at 78 was also surprisingly low.

Hartwig being a 86 and Colon being a 78 are too high. I’d say 83 and 74.

I play Madden, but I wont really be playing it until 10 comes out. My gamertag is ‘Shleeven’

Keep in mind that awareness has a huge affect on overall but can be developed rather easy.

still doesnt justify a 63

At least you can make your own ratings and adjustments

Willie Colon….you have been cut

I would've thought after the playoff run Santonio had...

He’d be the 90 WR and Hines would be the 86.
And how in God’s name does the 1st rd draft pick that hasn’t played a snap yet in the NFL have a higher rating than the 1st rd draft pick from 2 years ago that’s about to make Steeler Nation not miss Larry Foote?
Then I remembered…
Madden hates the Steelers.
