Ben vs. ...
Shaquille O'Neal? Huh? How's that possible? What are you talking about? They don't even play the same sports.
It's evidently true though. According to the following ESPN article - link - "In a new ABC reality television series that begins filming this week, Shaq will take on other top athletes in their own sports. The show, evidently called "Shaq Vs." is set to premiere on August 18th at 9 p.m. ET, and begins filming Wednesday in Pittsburgh, where Shaq will take on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in football. According to USA Today, the episodes will feature preliminary challenges, news conferences, quality time with needy kids and negotiations of a handicap between Shaq and his competitors. Each episode will climax with a main event."
I thought the announcement of this show was ironic as I have been discussing possible topics for future blogs on BTSC with site founder Blitz. One of my ideas was a regular "Ben Vs." thread which came from the Eli vs. Ben thread that is currently running both here at BTSC - link - and also at Big Blue View - link. Another blog - link - has provided a good list of current QBs that I can use as Ben's "opponents" during the first few threads. I may even place him up against some of the all time greats and see how his career compares if there is enough interest in the topic. Please take a moment to vote in the poll. If there is enough interest I'll get going on putting together the first installment.
By the way... Go Big Ben! Kick Shaq's butt! And while you're at it, please, please, please don't get hurt making the episode.

lol what?
is espn having them competing at COMMUNITY SERVICE??? or is that just something they’re doing in the process? and why would they give shaq a handicap? if they’re going to do that then they could have john doe off of the streets competing against ben with a chance to win.
I want to see
Shaq calling audibles. Ten men would be looking at each other in confusion. How funny would that be?

I'm looking forward to Shaq vs Ben.
I think it’ll be entertaining. Shaq is a funny guy… I’m interested in seeing him and Ben interact.
When I say who dey, you say we dey.

I'd like to see Ben
play him in hoops. Bet Ben could kick his arse. Of course he’d be required to wear a helmet.

Shaq v Harrison
I can’t imagine what kind of events they will be able to dream up for a matchup with regards to football. Clearly Ben and Shaq aren’t going to be hitting each other. Perhaps some sort of a passing contest with Shaq getting to throw from a much closer distance? Other than that I can’t imagine too many other things that they might do.
I’d rather see Shaq square off against Silverback in a more physical battle. Let’s see if Shaq has the skills and strength to stop Harrison’s pass rush. Now that might possibly be entertaining.
On a side note.
For those of you who have posted that they don’t think the idea of “Ben Vs.” is any good might I inquire as to why you think that way? I’m seriously curious. If anyone feels comfortable explaining why they think it’s a bad or stupid idea I’d be very interested in your thinking. Thanks in advance for the input.
didn't expect
Ben vs the State of Nevada. Actually technically, the state is not involved because it’s only a civil suit

I saw that too. Hopefully there’s nothing much to it.

Bad Timing
I couldn’t have picked a worse time for beginning this project. Due to the impending legal issues I think I will hold off on this series of articles until the current situation is either resolved or blows over. If I were to take the time to gather all of the facts and stats for the comparisons and put together an article I would be hopeful that the conversation and focus would be on the on the field comparisons. Right now I highly doubt that would be the case. Perhaps when things settle down again in the future I will revisit this idea.
btw – I appreciate everybody who took the time to vote.
