Grisham

Grisham is the type of player that has made the Steelers great for years......skills equal to most and heart more than most...receiving he will catch all balls that get to him......blocking downfield he will get your receivers and running back extra yards with his blocking....led Clemson in that stat for four years.....special teams captain at Clemson was also recruited as DB so he understands the principles of open field tackling....hope he makes the 53

He made an amazing diving catch in practice on Saturday…

He also came back about two plays later and let a pass hit him in the back…

I'm thinking he goes to the practice squad

But we’ll try to keep him around. Sounds like he could be one of those diamonds in the rough.

Here’s a nice clip of him making a fantastic TD catch and taking a concussion at the same time, and managing to hang on to the ball, and stay in bounds just enough.

He’s only 22, and had decent numbers at Clemson.

I don’t think he’ll get a serious chance, and I don’t think he really deserves one. We’re talking about a small, slow (4.65 40) WR who doesn’t have any return ability, or a history of much success in college. I don’t know how good his hands are, but they’d have to be awfully damn good to even sniff the PS. It doesn’t matter how good your hands are if you can’t get off the line or get any separation.

I’d say Baker, Black, and Williams all have better chances of contributing, though it’s unlikely that they will either.

he looked great on the deep ball he caught….

He was thrown to more than Baker and those other scrubs so perhaps they like him better, dunno

They probably already know what they have better in Baker and Williams, since they’ve been with the team longer. I dunno, I just see no upside whatsoever there. I’d rather see our PS spots given to guys who have at least one outstanding ability and need time to develop.

BadMaafala...

Down field blocking out of the WR position, and some potential as a ST’er. Granted neither are overwhelming abilities for a WR to have, but he has shown some ability in each role. Willing to tackle, hit and be hit. A little undersized for someone who plays like that though, I’ll give you that.

He was not a game changer at Clemson, but I watched a few of those games, and I heard his name (and not in a negative way, mind you) through out each. Just my opinion, for what its worth (probably not too much haha).

I was thinking about ST’s ability, but it seems like it’s usually LB’s and DB’s that get those spots. I guess Sean Morey is one exception. It’s possible he could fight a guy like Anthony Madison for a ST spot, but I haven’t heard the types of wow’s out of practice it would probably take for that to happen. We’ll see in the pre-season, though. Regardless, if his talent ceiling is Anthony Madison or Sean Morey, well, he’s a lot more rough than diamond.

Small and Slow

Think back a few years to Hines Ward coming into his first camp…doesn’t it sound like the same type of guy. I love these type of players…you can’t measure heart!! We as Steeler fans should know that by now and cherish these types of players. I hope this kid makes the practice squad at least. Guys like Nance and Baker are a dime a dozen, these types are special!!

I don't care where you're drafted or otherwise...

…if as a rookie WR you show up to camp, you block well downfield, play Special Teams well and run good routes you have a shot at the roster. Straight line speed is so over-rated for WRs. The route runner will out do the blazer 99 times out of 100.

Kid’s got a shot. But it probably relies on how our other WRs and perhaps more importantly, other Special Teams aces on the D side, pan out.

Baker would suprise me

Baker looked very clumsy at the camp session I was at. He caught nearly everything thrown his way, but he was slow, and fell down many times with no one around, and went out of bounds with no one around.

Grisham looked more fluid than Baker, and this is his first try, not his fourth. Williams did not look bad either.

Tyler Grisham

Rooney has a talent for finding guys like Grisham. They fit none of the typical “measurables”, but they have incredible work ethic and good skills. This kid is brand new to the big time, but has shown he has the talent and heart that can make him a Steeler’s star if given the chance. I have seen him beat guys that he should not have been even close to beating.
Show me a small school guy that is hungry and has heart, and I will take him over a big school “star” any day of the week. Those big school guys think they deserve it all. Grisham reminds me of Rocky Bleier: never should have made the team, too slow, too white, had to fight just to walk again after war injuries-and there he is winning Super Bowls after getting a starting role because of his blocking ability. Bleier got cut twice, played on the practice squad, and turned into one of the great all-time Steelers. All because he gave it 150% on every play.

I see those same qualities in Tyler Grisham.
