What does "Swaggin" mean?
I am sure this has been asked on the site before, however, I am a newbie here to this site. By the way, this site is unparalleled for any Steeler info. Congrats on a job well done. My question (as well of many of my friends') is what Ike Taylor means when he says "Swaggin" on his TV intro for his school? We've always been curious. I do know his real name is Ivan (not Isaac as many think) and that he only scored a 5 on his wonderlic. (A big reason why he couldn't get big d-1 offers were his low grades and entrance scores). Also, dyk that Ike never even became a CB until the end of his career at La.-Lafayette? He was a running back until he was a junior. Hopefully these tidbits can enlighten a few of you diehards. If not, maybe at least I can learn what the hell "Swaggin" means. Go Black and Gold. ---The Sonic Bully

Between “Swaggin” and his little “Face me Ike” thing…I really don’t understand him.
I’ve heard him answer questions on both, his answers don’t make any sense. I don’t think even he knows what he is talking about half the time. Ike isn’t very smart. Ike has a strange sense of humor. Ike is virtually impossible to understand.
He is, however, one of my favorite steelers, if only because he is despised / misunderstood by most of steeler nation.

Used to mock the Face Me Ike thing...
But as of late it’s become a go to for me and my buddies. Everytime we make a “adult beverage” pong shot… hit him with a little Face Me Ike. Psych’s the competition right out. Is it silly to do? Does it make you look foolish? Yes to both. But is it effective? The facts are undeniable. I’m doing it right now and I really don’t know why.

I know Ike’s silly. I just was confused as to why he mentioned swaggin’ in response to his school. Then again, it explains the 5 on his wonderlic if he was swaggin’ the whole time at school. Taylor also is one of my favorite Steelers as he is the closest thing to a shutdown corner we have. In fact, if he had better hands, he probably would be a pro bowler. To me, I can live without the INT’s and the occasional dumb penalty if he keeps shutting down opposing top wideouts most of the time.

lol @ "I really don't know why"
Hilarious. You’re right, nysteelersfan. I just tried it myself. For some reason it just felt like the right thing to do.

I understand him
Maybe that’s because I coach plenty of kids like him. Some people don’t like players that hotdog. I really don’t care as long as they back it up and it doesn’t affect the team. By the way he didn’t invite “Face me Ike”. He just renamed it.

As long as we're explaining things
Anyone have the origin of “Face Me Ike?”
by HitThatGuy on Aug 11, 2009 4:57 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
From what I know
Face Me Ike, and the hand gesture that follows it comes from a Young Buck, who is a rapper in the 50 cents’ G-Unit group.

Swaggin means Southwest Louisiana University
University of Louisiana – Lafeyette name was Southwest Louisiana University before changing it. That’s why Ike goes with Swaggin an acronym for Southwest Louisiana Univ

AH! You had to ruin it! It was way too fun listening to everyone provide reference to the latest hip-hop vernacular, all the while not realizing there is no way in hell the NFL would let him make such a reference unless it was linked to his high school or college…

Swaggin'
Is a slang abbreviation of the adjective “Swaggering”, which means “moving with a certain confident disposition, possibly bordering on arrogance”.
ie- the Steelers have “swagger”. Ike, thusly, is “swaggin’” when he performs his football duties at a high level of execution. Therefore, Ike’s confidence level is extremely high encouraging him to challenge his opponents to both literally and metaphorically “Face ME, Ike effin’ Taylor, Baby!!!”. Hence- “Face Me Ike”.
Geesh- don’t you folks speak “jive”??

Most don't
but Vick definitely speaks a dialect derivative of ’70’s jive. Ever heard his brother Marcus speak? Waaaaayyyyy worse. At least Dan Reeves hired a speach coach for Michael in the old ATL days. His little brother Marcus sounds like Pootie Tang:
