Mike tomlin is a class act
I just watched the PTI interview a few minutes ago with Mike Tomlin and I was impressed. Many times when you see an interview with a head coach he mouths the words that we have come to expect from these types of interviews. Not Mike. He invited Jerome Bettis to put the helmet back on and show the Steelers what he's got. And you know what? he just might be able to still do it!
Of course I like our coach too. Tom coughlin has overcome adversity to become one of the premier coaches in the league. But it wouldn't surprise me if your guy has a hall of fame career in Pittsburgh

Five minutes on PTI with Kornheiser and Wilbon. Mike was his usual direct self. When asked about Bettis’ criticism he just dismissed it as something Bettis said because he is now in the “entertainment” business but that if Bettis wants to help fix the running game, then he can get him a helmet . Funny moment, when asked what abilities Shaq had shown him as a football player in the Shaq vs. Ben TV show, Tomlin said: “None.” About the Bears, said he respects Cutler as a guy who sliced and diced up the Steelers in 07 and can make all the throws, suspects he will have a much better game Sunday.

Missed PTI,
but thx for the post. I have a lot of respect for the Giants. The old school family ran org built around a good D and running game. I am glad Plax got you another ring before he messed up.
Good luck this year, and beat them Cowboys this week.

Hall of Fame
A little early to call him a hall of fame coach. If he does not address the offensive line problems, Ben will get killed, then there will be no passing game to go along with no running game. He won’t get the extension and he will be a footnote, not a hall of fame coach.
IMO, Mikey T has to step up and quitely kick some but and get the running backs, OL and coaches moving. After the season is over, he needs to replace the OL coach and possibly the RB coach as well. Next April, he needs to make sure we draft some OL in the 1st and 2nd round.
I tuely hope for Ben’s health, that he heard what the Bus said.

Reality....
Building a team ain’t like driving over to the Wal-Mart with a shopping list and a credit card and taking your cart up and down the aisles.
With free agency and 31 teams ahead of you all looking to draft offensive linemen, you have to decide what to sacrifice in order to make a move that might help the OL. And when you draft last, you may end up with a choice between the fifth best offensive tackle or the best defensive end. The BPA is often far better than the reach who may or may not be worth it.
Tomlin has made this year’s team a much younger team and seemingly a much deeper team. That might give him the flexibility to bundle a couple of draft picks to move up next April and pick a top offensive lineman.
Look at the way he fixed the team’s biggest weakness – special teams – and the seeming lack of depth of linebackers (drafting Timmons and Woodley, signing Fox). He knows the weaknesses, and fixes them. Some fixes take more than a year, however.
Just remember, with free agency, the salary cap, and the draft, no successful team can keep all of its key players together and EVERY team will have weaknesses. The best teams are able to hide them or find ways to succeed in spite of them.

(mAYBE THE ONLY ONE)
But I like the O-line and I do think its going to take some time to gel
plus the fact that most r signed for the the next 2-4 yrs with Colon being next to get an extension
so far they’ve performed well in pass pro the running game will get better but that was an exceelent front four they faced and r running backs didnt help the cause
The o-line has the “us against the world mentality” which will bring them closer plus thier good guys who are well spoken still young (mid twenties) and get along with BB
This line will take us to the big show again watch the running game this week agaist the Bears and then watch Tenn next opponent get destroyed and then u can compare apples to apples

Tomlin
I watched the interview as well and easily my favorite part of the whole thing was when he was asked about Cutler’s performance against Green Bay. He talked about how it happens to players sometimes and he said “Sometimes gun fighters get shot.” Seems like classic Tomlin to me.
