Close games

As the saying goes, you can't blame a loss on one player.  That saying has yet to be finished.  add on "unless your name is Jeff Reed or Limas Sweed"  If the coaching staff doesn't see that he cannot use his hands and replace his third spot with studly Mike Wallace, then I don't know what to say.  Limas catches that TD, the game is a blowout.  Defense was solid considering Troy is still out.  Won by 3, loss by 3, loss by 3. Why do the Steelers play these close games? Why can't they just WIN with points.  And lots of them??

To blame it on Sweed or Reed is ridiculous and ignorant.

Would you guys be laying the blame on Ward had we lost that game to the Titans? I think not.

Offense failed to score any 4th quarter points. Defense surrendered two long TD drives in the clutch

I agree except the part about defense

The offense is definitely having problems scoring in the red zone, which I would attribute 40% to the problem. Jeff Reed missed only one field goal today, but it still made the difference between at least being able for the Steelers to win the game in overtime, so I attribute 20% to Reed between the Chicago loss and the loss to Cincinatti today. The other 40% of the problem to me is the defense’s inability to hold a lead. I know Troy is out, but have they forgotten how to sack the QB and force turnovers??

With Baltimore firing on all cyclinders on both offense and defense, I think this loss may have cost the Steelers the division this year, and even if they make the playoffs as a wildcard, I’m not confident they can win on the road against a good team, given they could not beat two teams on the road they should have beaten.

You can throw blame at Reed for the Chicago game for the most part

but one drop by Sweed does not equal two missed FGs…or a few missed tackles, or a pick 6, or a lack of pressure……

you cannot blame Sweed for this…..I don’t see how you can, he was only thrown two twice. Sure he dropped an open TD but there was still plenty of time left in the game.

Thats what he gets paid to do. Catch the ball because Wallace is reserving Sweeds seat on the bench!

Holmes had a drop too

whats your point? one drop does not cost a game

They could if they kept throwing the ball and mixing it up. The Steelers play not to lose too much. If they are up by 10 they need to get that lead to 20. Keep the pedal to the metal all game long and score as many pts as possible.
