Andrea McNulty Offers Ben "settlement"

This skanky, rotten, foul mouthed, disgusting person decided that a 'settlement' was appropriate.  how wrong of her

She's not only abusing ben but she's abusing the city of Pittsburgh and giving us all a bad name for even supporting Ben during this time.  How many posts did we endure here of idiots from our own city, old farts, and fans of other teams posting how Ben must be a rapist and how he dosent care for women and how he takes advantage of them.

That’s a brutal statement from Ben’s lawyer, but it’s appropriate.

100k is nothing to Ben. If he’s turning down this settlement his legal team must have no doubt whatsoever that they’ll prevail in court.

I dont think Ben is worried about the 100k

As much as he cares about admitting he committed a rape he says he did not.

haha…i apologize. I will change the phrasing. I was just really upset after reading it and found that she was ‘willing to settle’ as if ben was wrong somehow.

No worries man...

Anger is the easiest emotion to feel, this stuff gets me angry too, just like the rest of us.

I don’t know you any better than you know me, but (there’s always a but) in reality, none of us know Ben any better than we know eachother here. Unless of course, you do know Ben personally, which you could. Hell, you may even be Ben for all I know. None of us can say whether or not we know Ben is innocent, I personally believe he is, but have no way of proving my opinion. I doubt Ben is too worried about a court hearing if he is innocent anyways. He should take this to court and be cleared of all charges, if he knows in his heart he is truly innocent.

What this does, in the court of public opinion, is dispells the “She’s only doing this for money” angle. It is a very, very gutsy maneuver for McNulty. If this is actually about him wronging her, and that is all it is about, than this makes her slightly more believable, in my opinion. The main knock on her case was the “money grubbing” aspect of it. Now that is gone. Why else do you continue with this if not to prove your point? (of course there are many logical answers to that not including the alleged crime actually happening). If Ben is innocent, he will never, ever admit to this. Don’t balk at this Ben, and I’d bet the charges are dropped all together within a week or so.

By the way...

The “burns in hell” part wasn’t what was so off base, it was the whole intro. Write what you want, I appreciate changing what was changed, but you don’t have to change anything if you don’t want. Free speach something or other.

by NYSteelersFan4 on Sep 9, 2009 11:18 AM EDT up reply actions

interesting take, i guess thats the opposite side of the coin. I didnt consider it.

thing is, if you look into the emails that mcnulty sent out its pretty clear that ben was in no wrong. She had sent an email specifically saying how she was hoping for a little ben baby or something.

she also sent an email THE DAY BEFORE HER ALLEGED RAPE ENCOUNTER saying how she’s going to have to HOLD HER SELF BACK FROM FIXING HIS TV.

these emails and messages indicate that it was consensual and at worst premeditated by her. she wanted to be in that room with him and have some sort of tryst. I think most likely what happened was that she thought she could get with him, have a child, etc. was in love bla bla bla…and found out ben just wanted some punani.

end of story

Can't argue with facts...

And those are facts. Like I said, I have almost no doubts Ben is innocent, but I can’t prove he is. Until all is said and done with this, no one can state for a fact he is innocent. Rape is a very ugly accusation, for both the accusor and accused, in my opinion there is no reason to make it any uglier than it is for anyone involved, regardless of personal beliefs either way.

the money angle nysteelers ...

McNulty is also sueing the casino and anything that lends credibility to her case (Ie the mere appearance that she is NOT doing it for the money or, even better for her, an acknowledgement by Ben that an assault took place and thus provide the casino with a motive for looking after a high profile guest) could help her score a significant settlement. No one knows anything yet for certain. Ben seems unaffected and the media has generally put this on the back-burner. It doesn’t appear to be a distraction yet. Let’s hope it stays that way and it gets settled soon.

by steeler.lifer on Sep 9, 2009 1:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I wondered that...

I was cautious writing that because I did not know the status of the suit against the casino. If you get money from one and not the other, you’re still getting the money. Thanks for clearing that up for me, much appreciated.

As soon as I read the stipulations of the offer, I immediately thought that she was trying to cover her tail. This offer screams of someone who is in over her head, trying to save face, and exit the stage with more applauds than boos. I, now, have absolutely no hesitation saying that Ben is innocent.

Here’s to clearing his name, once and for all.

this is a sign of weakness and should be treated as such

I don’t care about all the “we don’t know ben” and “this woman deserves her dignity” stuff. I understand that would be the moral “high ground” approach. I respect people who can take this approach. I can’t. I am a Steelers fan and I stick with the Steelers. I’ll stick up for them the way I would for my little sister. I believed Ben was innocent from the beginning because he has proven his character through his 5 year career. Call me a homer, I don’t care. I am one.

I want this woman and her lawyer hounded to the ends of the earth. I want them blacklisted from every job and benefit. I want them stripped of all dignity and pleasure in life.

They are OUR enemy. They tried to take out our hero, our Quarterback. Now it’s time to circle for the death blow to these leeches.

It's a civil suit

Guilty, not guilty, innocent, no contest, etc. are for criminal charges. He may be found liable and ordered to pay damages, but there won’t be a decision on his guilt or innocence.

by JHolmes on Sep 10, 2009 9:17 AM EDT up reply actions

agreed, but..

i dont know if using wartime words and hyperbole is going to make it any better.

personally i agree that they are scum. which is why i disagree when one says you dont know the whole story necessarily. you can’t be sure…to me thats not appropriate.

why? because once an accusation has been made you technically can ‘never’ be sure. even if you are acquitted. e.g. OJ simpson trial-he was obviously guilty but was acquitted. using the argument that you cant be sure until as someone above said ‘all is said and done’ is unfair in this case. especially when we can use simple logic to put 2 and 2 together about the emails and such. now I’m not saying that its wrong to have this opinion or that you are wrong, i just dont like it.

think about it. what if tomorrow i said…I got kidnapped by aliens and was experimented on. And then proceed to give events that can’t be necessarily disproven. what will you do then? what can anyone do? if you follow the same rules, as: ‘we cant decide until all is said and done’ then really..no one can say that i was never kidnapped by aliens(which we all know is untrue).

the same goes for this case except that here there is clear evidence and simple logic shows that the masterminded this crap for attention from ben or for money…realized neither was working out and then went after him.

"And if he’s found guilty by some chance?"

Considering all the info I’ve read (100% everything I could find that has come out in the press including the full complaint) I would consider that a travesty of justice. But I highly doubt it will even get to the trial stage.

Here are some excerpts of her emails just to make sure we are all on the same page:

“It is with regret that I announce the resignation of Andrea McNulty effectively immediately. She is with Big Bens child and and she has relocated to Pittsburgh. We wish her good luck (she will need it) in her future endeavors.”

Before the sexual encounter, some of the e-mails say:

    * “hail mary full of grace give me the strength to not go to his room to fix his television”

    * “hail mary full of grace Ben is so effing hot and I am bored”

And these e-mails came after the sex, which Roethlisberger’s attorneys say was consensual:

    * “I did him. Big, really big. You lost out.”

    * “you can be the god father … Uncle Guy”

http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/20581831/detail.html

She’s a real laugh riot, huh? This is just a small sample. There are more. As long as these are legit, which I don’t doubt, what more is there to say? Why stay on the fence? She and her counsel are an enemy of the Nation and should be treated as such.

I know it appears that I use hyperbole on occasions, but I really mean it. I’m a mean SOB.

Not the best question to ask there, I don’t see any circumstance where he loses in court either. Dumb question.

by NYSteelersFan4 on Sep 9, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions

there's nothing wrong with playing devil's advocate and discussions

but the only evidence of any wrongdoing is her words. And if you read enough of her words they start to lose a lot of credibility. Like in the original complaint talking about how Ben’s room was a mess. What kind of crap is that? How is it relevant? It talks about how (I know gross) while he was allegedly raping her, she mentioned she didn’t want to get pregnant and he …[uhhh let’s just say he had a strategy in mind]. Disgusting and repulsive and IRRELEVANT and also to top it off, completely disputed by her emails talking about how she wanted his baby! We’re staring into the face of real paranoid delusions and serious mental health issues. I would have sympathy if not for the damage done to Ben’s and the Steelers’ reputations.

It’s just a shame we have to think about this stuff. I feel kind toolish yappin’ about this instead of the game coming up.

by showtime on Sep 9, 2009 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions

yea dude…no way he’s guilty. the only way there’s any shred he is guilty is if all those emails were made up and fabricated in some genius way by roethlisberger and his lawyers and that would mean some sort of crazy conspiracy theory.

that woman is a skank. a greedy, imbecile of a woman who deserves no respect. she is making it that much harder for actual rape victims to succeed with their case. thats the biggest reason why I hate her guts. then comes the fact that she put an entire city through shit about this.

We All Should Know

Ben is innocent. This woman is just the same as that woman whose name will never be worthy of remembering that lied about Bus.

Someday, I’ll block this woman from my memory too.

In any case, if I were Ben, I’d say the hell with settlement and take the fight all the way through. He’s innocent, and if he’s confidant of his innocence, don’t settle.

I know it's tempting

To settle, but if I were him, I wouldn’t. If he truly didn’t do it, like I believe he didn’t he won’t give her one damn penny, even though his lawyers have offered settlements for far less money and only under certain conditions.

I knew there had to be something up

After I heard my local Radio Music Station DJ here in New York say there was news about Roethlisberger. Of course as fate would have it, I had to leave before they reached the sports news.

At first the $100,000 “charity” settlement caught me off guard, but then after thinking about it, it really translates to her saying “Crap, the jig is up, I’ve been found out, better forget the money ploy for personal gain and donate it to worthy cause as a cover up, and still try to get him to say he did it.”

To me all that there is left to do is for her to drop it. She’s insane and her lawyer is almost equally as bad for taking on this case. At this point I’m 99.999% sure that this is over, and Ben is innocent.

Agreeing to pay up

is, in and of itself, an admission of guilt, to me. Michael Jackson settled out of court and look what that got him. People still think he did that to those kids.

Just sayin’.

I dont though. I think he was innocent.

When you have money, honestly, why should you give two shits what these people think? The true loyal fans are still gonna be there. And Kobe didnt lose any money from his settlement. Sometimes its best to just walk away and move on.

Thats all.

by Mechem on Sep 9, 2009 4:07 PM EDT up reply actions

It's the principal of the thing.

(IF) Ben didn’t do anything wrong, he should be righteously mad and pursue it to it’s finale, wherein he is vindicated based on his innocence. Therefore not bowing to someone exploiting the fact that he does have money and is in the public eye.

Also, how much was that diamond ring Kobe bought for his wife? Like, 3 mill and change? Nosir, he lost money alright, it just went on the finger of his wife, instead of in the pocket of that woman. Plus, liars (lawyers) aren’t free, even if they are on retainer against things like this.

Thank you drive through...

Hilarious...

Our judicial system has really stooped to a new low. I wonder how much time and money was wasted writing up (and reading/responding to) what amounts to a playground argument. “Say you’re sorry or I’m telling!” “Say you didn’t mean it!” What kind of lawyer represents this nonsense?

And shame on McNulty. Please no one refer to her as a woman – that word assumes a certain amount of maturity and dignity. She wants him to apologize for raping her and she’ll drop the suit. Are you kidding me? All true rape victims out there should be chomping at the bit to smack this girl around. How dare she throw the term around. It’s one thing to let bygones be bygones after being late for dinner, but rape?? Does this girl even hear herself?? This is right in line with her “freshening up” and being “asked to leave” after the “rape”.

I’m telling you this country is going to run itself to the ground….but in the meantime let’s hope the Steelers win a few more Super Bowls…

Thanks, surag, I love this news. When McNulty first came out with her claim, it was so depressing because it felt like there would be no good way for Ben to prove he didn’t do it. Even if he won at trial, it seemed like there might always be some question about it. But you know what? I think it’s actually happening, I think he’s actually in the process of being proved truly and completely innocent right now. These emails and statements by McNulty that are coming to light are damning to her and her claims, and it is incredibly significant that thus far she has not denied being the source of those emails and statements.

Here’s hoping Ben does not settle at all. If he sticks to his guns, I think there is a legitimate possibility that the lawsuit will be dropped, McNulty’s attorney will be exposing himself to the possibility of sanctions if the lawsuit is not dropped very soon.
