here was an interesting take on the recent comments of Art II. I have been surprised that Rooney has had so much to say about specific directions for the team. I kind of hope that Dad calls him up from Ireland and tells him to put a sock in it. I would hate to see the Steelers ownership go the way of so many other teams. No one can be an effective leader if they don't have the backing, at least for a reasonable time period, of their ownership. We'll never get the chance to know how good (or, I suppose, bad) a coach Tomlin is if he's constantly looking over his shoulder. I really hope that Mr. Rooney rethinks this strategy. If he wants to coach the team himself, no one can stop him, except, I suppose, the other owners, but unless he decides to do that, he should give his staff some breathing space. Preferably in private as well as in public, but at the very least in public. Please, Mr. Rooney, don't depart from the path of wisdom that your father and grandfather forged!
