Who is replacing Reggie Wayne?

I’d love to see S. Holmes get in.

So here's my question...

Is Dallas Clark still considered a pro-bowler? I mean at the end of your career they take the number of pro-bowl seasons into consideration when determining things like that hall of fame and such.

And If he is, then is Ben a pro-bowler because he was next on their list but declined? Or is Gerrard a pro-bowler now and not Ben (hahaha)?

it never got weird enough for me

ben turned it down

pro bowl isn’t that important any more to get into the hall, numbers and SB count, ben has the SBs. plus he has many years to get there, now All-Pro team those really help.

True, but players are still announced by the number of pro-bowls they attended. I’m just curious about who we should call a pro-bowler because Goodell’s “genius” idea to move it before the SB has caused a crazy turnover of players. So do we go by who was voted in, or by who played, or both? If it’s both then the NFL greatly devalued the honor.

And I totally agree All-Pro is where it’s at.

The ratings will plummet

And that idiot will change it back.

And what was the big idea to take it away from Hawaii?

I remember something about it last year, and it seems to me they(Hawaiians) didn’t want to pay for it, or they wouldn’t build a new stadium…something…

I don't remember any of that

I thought it was sort of like a “The NFL is understands the current economic crisis, so it will cut some of its extraneous spending” type deal. I could be completely wrong though.

Hmmm...Maybe we should ask WolfPack...

He always seems to know this obscure information. If he doesn’t know it, he knows where to look it up.

Pro Bowlers

They are all considered Pro Bowlers: Big Ben, Dalls Clark, etc. As long as you are named to the team, no matter if you play or not, you the credit, as well as any bonuses in your contract. Nice work if you can get it!!!

Correction

I just checked NFL.com. Apparently if you are an injury replacement and decline invitation due to an ijury yourself, you do not get credit for being a Pro Bowler. Here is link to see the rosters and all of the replacements made. Ben is not listed.

Great Hands, Great Guy

This is an honor for him that I think is certainly a year or two overdue. Glad to see the league and the fans are paying attention.

Under-rated and understated. He’s one of the good guys in the league. Congrats Heath! Steeler Nation is proud of you!!

…because it’s football. kinda.

anyways, congrats to Heath. A well-deserved honor.

Has Stiller Nation given this guy a nickname yet? I can’t think of one.

A second silver lining to the Colts' win last weekend

The first is the opportunity for Peyton to fall even harder

Why is it that a lot of people are so against Peyton?

He’s obviously a great qb and works extremely hard. He seems to be grounded and isn’t a pretty boy like that douche Brady. He never beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs. What’s the reason?

by theatrain on Jan 26, 2010 2:17 PM EST up reply actions

Those at the top will always have enemies.

People who loathe the Beatles, people who formed hatred for the Cowboys during the ‘90s. And sometimes it is undeserved. In Peyton’s case, he seems like a totally likable fellow. I can understand the hatred of Eli because he bitched his way into the league, but Peyton has been a class act most of his career.

I love the Beatles

and generally admire talented and hard-working people who have made it to the top. I also admire Peyton as a player. But we all get irritated by little things that happen to push our buttons. In my case that includes Peyton’s commercial overexposure (his “smarmy face”) and his wild histrionic gestures at the line of scrimmage. I admit it’s irrational, but there it is.

Don't shoot me but....

I loved the 90’s Cowboys and I had the biggest crush on Troy Aikman. (Yah that’s right) Used to love watching Troy, Moose and Michael Irvin play but I loathe those guys now. I don’t know what I saw in that team but I was a teenager then so maybe it was my hormones.
Back to Peyton….He is a great player I even like his commercials and I would probably enjoy watching him play but I really think he gets way too much credit for his teams success. It’s almost like people forgot the Colts didn’t win until they were able to get a decent running game and an adequate defense.

No excuse

I still have teenaged hormones and……. what was I going to say? Nevermind. You saved yourself by loathing them now.

LoL! I came over to the Black and Gold side

after they beat the Steelers in the SuperBowl and I have never looked back. I felt so bad for Bill Cowher and Neil O’donnell.

And I think Peyton suffers(somewhat unfairly) from the sports media’s obsessive tendency to over-expose him.

I think if Peyton had a choice he’d probably just play football and never do a commercial or interview or have his name in articles or on the lips of sportscasters.

by tobiathan on Jan 27, 2010 7:56 PM EST up reply actions

yes it's too bad for him

that he’s forced to appear in all of those commercials…

Yeah I heard about that

The NFL forces him and he doesn’t see a dollar for any of those.

We cannot really make fun of him for commercials though or “selling out”. Because Troy is Head and Shoulders above the rest.

Well, "head and Shoulders above the rest"

is a really bad joke, but seriously who would look at Peyton when you can look at Troy? Case closed…
